So I decided to try for the Hilton Honors card today, the no AF flavor, and was instantly denied...citing "Amex's scoring of your credit profile", including account not paid as agreed (ok so yes I have some older 30 day lates), too short a time as a customer (6 months, perhaps I can see this), too many inquires...well lets see I bought a new car and refinanced another (with the same lender in the end, plus a new CC from the CU, all on 1 hard pull) and the new car dealer peppered my reports. Then theres another one concerning number of creditors to review my credit report...should have known to not apply when I got "expanding your membership is easy" verbiage. But seeing recent DP to the contrary enticed me.
Anyone see any room for recon here? Current EX F8 is 674 on Amex's pull in app, per myFICO EX F8 is 678. If there's no room to recon, no harm being a SP and I can always wait another 3-6 months anyways as I am not really planning to do much travel this year with a 6 mo old baby.
Anyways thanks for any and all input.
Unfortunately, given the reasons you've shared with the denial, I don't see how this can be reconsidered. If it had been one reason listed (not all 3 or 4) where you could leverage a good rebuttal, sure.
My suggestion is to let time do its thing as your profile improves and recovers from the inquiries and other factors. Since AmEx is citing a short history with them, then just build on that and try again in the future. Perhaps see whether any pre-approved offers pop up at some point to gauge the odds.
Thanks FinStar, thats kinda what I thought, but sometime confirmation is the best medicine. Oh well, no harm no foul with the SP attempt.
