Amex Prequalification - Should I pull the trigger?

So, after a BK and much waiting, Amex has prequalified me for their Delta SkyMiles cards.  I guess my questions are:

1.  My TU score (I presume they pull TU) is 650 as of now, but Capital One should be reporting Any Day Now™ that my utilization on the QS1 card I have through them is at 0, down from 85%.  I'm guessing I should, at a minimum, wait until that happens (at which point all of my tradelines will be reporting $0, except for a Credit One card reporting $70 and an Amazon Prime Store card reporting $90 because I had to hit Whole Foods a day earlier than I'd planned).  Am I off the mark?

2.  How often does "pre-qualified" eventually become "approved", barring a sudden collection, late payment, or other unfortunate event?

3.  Are their charge cards any easier to qualify for than their credit cards?  Barring unexpected events such as a more accessible apartment coming available right away, as happened a year ago (my wife uses a wheelchair), my general tendency is not to carry a balance, or, if I do, not to carry a balance for more than a month.  I'd be fine with a Green Card (although the Platinum Card has its appeal).

4.  Or, should I hold off on Amex for slightly longer and wait for a better offer?

As a side note, I also have about $5,000 in dental work that I'd like to get Care Credit for (it's doable without Care Credit, honestly, but 0% financing is tough to beat).

Thanks for your input.

Amex pre-quads are pretty solid.....but first

You mentioned a BK.....when was the file date? Amex typically will only approve an app with BK at 5 years, 1 month....regardless of preapprovals.

+1. AMEX uses EX for the bulk of their pulls. If your profile is borderline, they may pull another bureau as well, but EX is generally the score they foucs on primarily.

Re: Amex Prequalification - Should I pull the trigger?

I just got the Amex green and they pulled EX for me too. But i would check to make sure all of your scores (and not just TU) are in that higher range before pulling the trigger.  Just in case!  My biggest fear was a hard pull WITH a decline, but my scores were solid enough that i knew if i got a decline, i could just garden for a bit and try again later. Good luck.

Amex pulled me TransUnion on my January 2019 apply for Plat try. I never completed the application process, then January 2020 applied revolving Amex and approved! They pulled from EXP this time and that's how i joined Amex, hehe. H Hilton instead of Plat, so they DO pull in TU sometimes... i saw it with my own eyes that they pulled me TransUnion on an uncompleted app, lol.
