Amex Prequalify Questions. Don't Mean to Beat a Dead Horse.

Forgive me if these questions have been addressed; I cannot seem to find the answers I am looking for.

1. How often can you check for Amex prequalified offers?

2. Does your report have to be unfroze to check?

3. Do you have to be opted in for offers? (optoutprescreen.com)

Thanks.

You can check.as often as you like,  I notice my offers change a little here and there as my profile changes and they do corresponding soft pulls to see where I'm at.

As far as I know promotional soft pulls or AR pulls and such are allowed even when your reports are frozen so no they don't have to be unfrozen. And as far as I know the opt in deal wouldn't matter when your the one initiating the check yourself, it just stops them.from sending you mailers and such. Someone correct me if I'm wrong about that part.

Enjoy!

I think Amex has a rule about when they may consider application when BK is present on CR.

I don't think you're there yet based on dates in your signature

Agree.  IIRC, it's ~5 years + 1 month from file date if I'm not mistaken.

That said if AmEx was IIB, then likely on internal naughty list even after 5 years in most cases.

You think right.  They'll look when 61 months out if they weren't IIB.   If they were, it's a huge YMMV depending on a number of factors (like voluntarily paying them back in full) and preapprovals don't properly factor in if you're still blacklisted.

Re: Amex Prequalify Questions. Don't Mean to Beat a Dead Horse.

I am currently 60 months BK filing, with my 61st month being 3/15/21.

I am anticipating having the numbers "there" by the time that elusive day hits.

Just wanted to get an idea of how things worked.

Was AmEx included in the BK?

@daveg38  Also know that Amex (and Discover too) does check your report from LexisNexis whenever a pre-qualification tool is used.

@Wile  I don't understand why LN would be soft pulled for a pre-qual. One could have clean reports but a "dirty" L/N and be disqualified.

@FinStar  No, I have never had my own Amex; currently an AU on one (and am the only one using it). Will be open a year on the 25th of this month. Hoping maybe that will somehow calculate into an approval/pre-qual.

Re: Amex Prequalify Questions. Don't Mean to Beat a Dead Horse.

@daveg38

Have you ever reviewed your report with LN? They are not a credit report, rather LN report contains information about all your addresses so far, phone numbers...auto insurance policies...auto insurance claims ..your driving license number...your gender...and about any person who was ever an additional policyholder with you..and many more other stuffs than credit accounts...Those info is also important to most lenders to know who you are and what is your background...Almost every bank and credit union Chex system to know if you have ever been put in their system as a banned person, similarly most lenders do check other information...Amex is the worse in doing that as they check many reports from all kinds of agencies...and then Discover...

Have you not heard that many people were denied credit cards by credit unions and even from banks based on information contained in LN just because someone has too many phone numbers or addresses therein? I just got my LN report only last week for the first time in my life, and I was shocked to know that it has 500 of my all addresses since I was born, and phone numbers too...all my auto insurance polices (past and present)...all the claims filed on those insurance policies whether by me or  other party...and many more information...my family members' name is there too as they were on my auto policies one time...my driving license number...their driving license info...everything is there...

I found therein 1000 different kinds of my phone numbers as well even though those were not mine...It took me 3 hours to be on the phone with customer service to make them deleted all those incorrect and inaccurate information from their databank...and some information I needed to dispute as one of the auto insurance policies is showing up there states that I was at fault...so thanks God that I was able to take care of everything...and auto policy is in dispute right now and it will take time...meanwhile I called Geico...the auto insurance company that I had many years ago and spoke to their supervisor to let them know that they incorrectly reported me at fault for the accident occurred very long time ago...Its good that I still have documentation about that accident...Supervisor acknowledged and already sent me a letter to correct that inaccurate information,  and he said that he is going to send correction info to LN as well. So, do order your report from LN..You can do it online and free of charge...
