Re: Apple Card denied - due to "recently been past due"

I also just got the invite, applied and was denied. DP’s:
Transunion Pull 730 (I’m thinking this score must be FICO 9). My FICO 8 was just updated and is at 705 as of 8/8. My FICO 9 was at 725 on 7/15. My VS is 718.
Reason for denial “Recent past due” - this I agree with. My app was a long shot, I just paid my final CO with AMEX in May, so I expected a denial but tried anyway with the SP. 😆
Income - $210K.
TU Inq - 6 (4 from an Auto Loan in Oct. of ‘18)
UTI - 1%
Outside of CO accounts last late was 1 yr 8 mo ago on an Auto Loan.
As I stated, I didn’t expect to be approved, but had also seen some approvals that surprised me, so figured I’d give it a go.

Thank you 🍎 for letting me fill out your app. Lol

Re: FINALLY GOT THE INVITE FOR THE APPLE CARD!

Thanks for the data points. I took the auto shotgun myself back in May so I feel your pain.

Re: Apple Card denied - due to "recently been past due"

Declined for "recent past due".  Score showed as 736. Copy of my TU report dated today shows ZERO past due on any account for the entire history of the report.  Chap 13 BK filed in Jan 2012 due to come off report 12/19.  But again, ZERO past dues on the entire report for any account.  And no, you don't have to have past dues to file BK.

Sorry for the denial. Just pay down your balances down to 8.9% then re-app.

Re: Apple Card denied - due to "recently been past due"

Welcome TeeShot!
Sorry about your denial.

I recently applied as well and like a few post here, I was given the same reason, “Due to recently past due account.” I filed BK7 in 2014, and I have zero past due or late payments since my Bk7. Nearly five years of perfect payments. I have called Apple and spoke with a CSR with Goldman Sachs. I tried to gather some information and inquired if I could speak to a representative in their underwriting department.

Unfortunately, he said this is not an option, however he would open a file and pass it to another department to look into my application (Uderwriting department 🤞🏽). I’m not holding my breathe on this one. I was given several numbers to call. Apparently, Goldman Sachs uses four different agencies to evaluate a profile.

Just pulled my Equifax 711 and like I said no lates, however it does show collection on three account but they show closed remark BK7.... 🤔 don’t think that could be it?

Re: Apple Card denied - due to "recently been past due"

I applied for Apple credit a couple of weeks ago and I believe it was still through Barclays. I was also denied due to being "recently past due." I don't have any baddies, currently have a barclays card without any lates (3-4 year old card), and my score is 680 because I have higher utilization on a few cards. I was sent a letter saying that credit bureaus weren't pulled. I'm confused, but didn't care much so I didn't bother looking into it. I'll try calling tomorrow to find out more info and I'll update.

If you try again this December after the BK falls off, let us know.

Update:

After I spoke with supervisor, they escalated my request for them to look into this. I got a reply and called back and submitted my feedback, requesting them to be more clear in the rejections. Speaking of lates, I never had any late payments leading up to BK. All my accounts show on time, always, until BK7 filed, all accounts turned into IIB. I've never let any accounts go unpaid, only my student loans, which is already excluded from my CR.

Here's the two same replies I got:

Apple Card - Denied

Applied for the Apple card and was denied due to too many recent late payments. I haven't been late on anything over two years. I'm not sweating it though. I just wanted that adamantium in my wallet lol. No real use for it at the moment.

DPs for those interested:

702 Exp

700 TU

700 EQ

6% Utilization, 100k income.

I'll just continue to live through everyone else lol.

Re: Apple Card Application Denied

I tried for the new apple card today.

Scanned my id, entered last (4) of my SSN, DOB, etc.

Came back as Not approved due to insufficient credit history, which i know is not correct.

I think they are trying to be as polite as possible when they deny applications.

Says they pulled Transunion.  Must have been a soft pull, since my credit monitoring service reported no hard pulls.

Guess ill stay in the garden for a while, hopefully in 1-2 years ill be able to get one. Smiley Happy
