I find Apple's messaging on this a little confusing. I do NOT have an iPhone, but I do have an iPad. Can I apply for an Apple card, with just an iPad and be fine and have a fully functioning card if I do not have an iPhone?

You can apply and manage the card on iPad.

UI is not as nice as the UI on the iPhone but it's just as functional.
He might have problems using apple pay .... he can manage/see the card.. but in person Apple pay might be an issue...
Online app using Apple pay works fine on the Ipad... and yes you can pull up the virtual card number, but if the OP wanted to get the 3% back in a physical store, i dont think the ipad would work..... not sure about this though....
But the card will still work in store.... Do not think theres a way to NFC on an ipad....

Good to know. Thank you. When it came out I had no interest in getting it, and now, ironically, I really want one as I need to buy an Apple product in the near future...I'm just hoping I can get approved for a good enough CL.

Right. I won't be able to hold he iPad up in store to pay for items, but I would still be able to use the physical card, right? And by using the physical card I would get the same cash back, correct?
If its an online purchase via Apple Pay yes... if its in an apple store purchase requring the card, yes (you may actually have to pull up the card number on the ipad vs the physical card) if its IPP, yes...
On purchases requring the physical card YOU usually DO NOT get the extra cashback...the exception is Walgreens and most things billable through apple.. (I had to use the card number in an apple store, and for changing payment for IPP)
Also Apple Card does now have a website for seeing billing and making payments..
You get cashback when using the physical card, but you don't get the 3%, but there are exceptions...

More i think about it the more Im concerned youll be able to activate the financing offers via the Ipad/or are they visible with the partial wallet app on the ipad.. Might want to wait for a few more replies.. ill try something but it might take a few days to get back to you
Actually it seems that if you make a purchase through the apple store app, it offered me to pay in installments via applecard on an eligible purchase... so I think you are alright there...
Just tried it..

My next question is how are you going to activate the physical card......
Really think you might need to go to reddit and see if someone has done this.. The more im reading it, is your going to hit some barriers "other" than the CL... if your intending on a phone it might still be worth it, but if not...
Scratch that.. i guess if you enroll with ipad...
And for billing...
