I have the Chase Trifecta but that shouldn't matter. The too many requests for credit makes sense since in the last 2 years I've opened up 6 cards, with 3 of those being opened yesterday. Since the Prime card was low on my priority I applied after the other 3 which put me over the 5/24 by one.
@CoolHandSean , With those notation marks "Too many requests for credit or opened accounts with us." in the denial letter,
It does not state anything about being over 5/24, if it stated 5/24 was the reason,
that would be something you could NOT have reconsidered!
You could possibly get the denial overturned? as I did -> read here
I believe that this is the phone # I called -> Chase: 888-270-2127 (App Recon - Credit Analyst)
I would give it a shot, you really have nothing to lose .IMHO
ETA: Also for @DaisyAdair , if that was the denial reason on the letter?
See below for declination reasons given in the notification from Chase. The 3rd bullet doesn't really track, but the other 2 make sense. Also, they provided a Chase "proprietary score" of 767. FYI, the Freedom Unlimited card is my only Chase product and I don't use it much.
Hope this is helpful to others!
We based our decision on the following reason(s)
•You have too many active accounts or too much available credit
•Length of time since newest credit card was opened is too short
•Too many accounts opened in the past 12 months compared to total accounts

@DaisyAdair , With those listed reasons, might be a little harder to have Chase reconsider?
I am of the opinion, it does not hurt to try? .. Keep in mind, if you call, be ready to state your case.
On the phone with Chase now for reconsideration. The nice lady is reviewing my application now.

She asked me about a Citi card that is showing a balance on their end but I told her I paid off the $1900 13 Sep. She made a note as well as when I told her I was approved for a credit limit increase on that same card as well as 3 other Chase cards on 17 Sep. She put me on hold for 2-4 minutes to speak with her colleagues and said she's return with a decision.

Good news I was approved!!! $21K limit!!! Thanks M_Smart!!!

Congrats! although I just noticed this wasn't your OP thread -- oops

Oops. 😂
Instantly declined. Like, faster than instantly. I'm sure my letter will reference 'too many new accounts'. I'm way over 5/24 (if that applies here) and also just opened PenFed ($21k) and Target MC ($6k) this week.
So...pay attention, kids. < sigh >
@DaisyAdair - just for clarification, did you actually apply directly for the Target MC? To the community's knowledge, this isn't offered as an option. Everyone is typically approved for the standard RedCard which eventually can get upgraded for select customers to the MC.
Try the reconsideration line and let us know what happened as you never know.

@CoolHandSean , That is great news
- Congratulations on your recon Approval!

I could be wrong, but I don't believe Chase explicitly states 5/24 as a denial reason in the denial letters.
