I have the Chase Trifecta but that shouldn't matter. The too many requests for credit makes sense since in the last 2 years I've opened up 6 cards, with 3 of those being opened yesterday. Since the Prime card was low on my priority I applied after the other 3 which put me over the 5/24 by one.

@CoolHandSean , With those notation marks "Too many requests for credit or opened accounts with us." in the denial letter,

It does not state anything about being over 5/24, if it stated 5/24 was the reason,

that would be something you could NOT have reconsidered!

You could possibly get the denial overturned? as I did -> read here

I believe that this is the phone # I called -> Chase: 888-270-2127 (App Recon - Credit Analyst)

I would give it a shot, you really have nothing to lose .IMHO

ETA: Also for @DaisyAdair , if that was the denial reason on the letter?

I could be wrong, but I don't believe Chase explicitly states 5/24 as a denial reason in the denial letters.

@OmarGB9 , Well  .., why they don't explicitly state 5/24 as a denial reason, but as you can read (below) ...same difference.

"Too many credit cards open in the last two years associated with you" = equates to 5/24)

As soon as I was denied a business card for being over 5/24, I applied for the Chase United Card (knowing that it is a 50/50 chance of bypassing 5/24 (as DP's can point to some, Amazon, United and Southwest cards) ..you can check the dates on both letters. 12/17/2021

I only had received the HP's for the one application.

Hmm I'd never seen that denial reason, let alone worded like that.

@FinStar  Yes, the option to apply for either was given when I signed on to a curbside pickup order. It was an ad on the site (desktop version) and when I clicked through there were both options, store card and MC.

Re: Applied For Amazon Prime - Forgot That’s Chase

Thanks, @M_Smart007 ! I agree with you. I'm not sure I feel I have that strong an argument. I do have quite a bit of available credit, and I did open 2 new accounts this week. I think I'll let it go.

Thanks for sharing this new DP @DaisyAdair.

This is definitely something that's new to me and lots of community members as this wasn't previously available. I have the Target MC which used to be the Visa from a couple decades ago. At the time, they used to provide the option for either version at the register. The Visa option was discontinued and when the MC version was introduced, it was only available as a targeted upgrade so this is awesome 👍

Well this is great news.

Maybe this should be moved to the Approvals for better visibility?

I see what you did there. 😉  I have been shopping at Target semi-regularly (a couple $100+ orders per month) since the last holiday season and have always used my primary bank's debit card. I also have filled out a couple customer feedback surveys. Not sure if any of that factors in , but sharing in case anyone's interested.
