So as some of my fellow members already know I've been sitting here simmering on the sting of last of last nights phone in to BARCLAYS for a CLI.... As you can already tell, that call resulted in a denial. This phone call lasted 2hrs and went from the inital CSR who I felt was on page with me but still wanted "to see more utilization" to his (and I can only imagine after being on hold so long for the transer meant the first CSR was forming the mind and opinion of his supervisor meaning his mind was already made up) supervisor resulting in ANOTHER 1hr conversation of waging back and forth battle of point for point. I could go into specifics but I won't unless anyone asks because of the boiling my brain took from the inability to understand or just plain stonewalling of why a CLI should be granted. Long story short- My initial teaser $500 CL and MULTIPLE LARGE payments every months and running thousands of dollars through this card still yeilded no CLI. UHHHHH Even worse it was a HP. If anybody knows if I call again and won't take another HP I'de love to know. Other's experiences are appreciated aswell.
Gonna hang in a few more months and hope for the best... Heres to the belief in the best outcome.
Wow a 2 hours recon call for a CLI.. Amazing.. Can't beieve the battle lasted that long.. how long have you had the card?
How long have you had the card? Too many times I see posters getting themselves worked up over lack of CLI when they have only had the card for 5 months.
Yes time is the only true cure in the credit world.
If you got a 500 startling limit. in most cases that is a borderline approval. i give you example.
last may. i apped for the rewards card. i still had a 6 year old charge off on my report . instantly denied. i did not know about calling to recon. so i let it go.
4 months later when the charge off was gone. i got up the nerve and apped for a apple card.
got approved 2k . that was in september.
my scores gradually climbed. then last month. only after having card 3months. got a hp cli. to 3500.
its not my lowest card.
but i do see progress. having card only 4 months. now.
in most cases because of your heavy spend. barclays will give cli after 6 months. worst case. 1 year. i don't know how long you have had the card. but if its longer than that and you are still fighting. then its time to just app for another barclays card. assuming your score has gone up since you first got it. good luck.

I have BoA and Comenity as my card companies that hate to give me CLI's, (and I have more than a few 5 digit CL's, just not with these lenders) that said why would you spend 2 hours going round and round with CSR's that cann NOT change what the system tells them? Perhaps the Executive Office could over rule the "computer" but two hours? I'd hate to see the notes that CSR put on your file.
Just saying....

+1 exactly why i said time is the cure to credit issues. but no way can we advice with just hearing how long the phone call was. profile will help. credit scores. at least tu. and lenth of time with card. to understand the next step to take. how many baddies on report. as it is 500 limit. something they don't like.
Hopefully i get a CLI i was given 3.5k to buy my MacBook pro
Did you call the number to speak directly to an analyst or did you call customer service? I didn't know their reps could make credit decisions. You may have luck if you call the CA dept
