Bank taking Over Q

Ok, so I was wondering..

Best buy is backed up by Citibank, before it used to be HSBC. Let's say that you dafaulted with HSBC almost 7 years ago, would you have any issues with Citibank approving Best buy if you have a clean relationship with them? as in having other credit cards in good standing with them?  Thanks!

If you have already been approved for a card from them after the default I don't see why they wouldn't approve you for something else as long as your profile supports it.
