Hello folks,
Would Barclays rewards MC be a possible card to get for someone with limited credit history?
Thanks.
Barclays like to see six months of history although some have been approved before then. It's a YMMV thing. What does your overall credit profile looks like now!
The Rewards is the entry level card with Barclays, but we'd need to know your scores to be sure.
I only have FAKO scores : 713, 668 and 663.
Only one of my recently opened cards is reporting for now. The others will report after 2 statements or hopefully after one. I was looking to apply for this card as my current cards do not have any kind of rewards or benefits with the exception that they report to credit bureaus.
Also, no baddies on credit. 3 HP on each.
their low end card is the barclay rewards, give that a shot if your scores are decent etc.
I think I will wait for 6-8 months before applying for anything. Thanks for the input. However, I would like to add something.
I read on these forums and elsewhere that discover is generous to people to limited/no credit history. So I call to apply. The girl was very friendly and 'assures' me that having limited or no credit history is not an issue unless -
1. You have no baddies on your credit.
2. You are 18 years or older.
3. Make atleast 10k per annum.
4. Have a us physical address.
So, feeling comfortable I go ahead and apply for it. Within 10 seconds of applying I am told I need a joint applicant due to lack of credit history...I am like what the $*@*!
Now I have a hard pull without the approval. Top class customer service my @*#!

We wouldn't have advised you to apply for Discover; it's not an easy card to get.
Your best bets at this point would to apply for:
Barclay Rewards or Barclay Apple
Cap One Quicksilver (or upgrade your Cap One Platinum)
