BoA Secured Graduation Nightmare

I have banked with BoA for almost 15 years. Last April, duiring my credit rebuild I got a Secured Card and have used it responsbily, paid off monthly etc. I am pretty anxious to graduate it and thought I would request a graduation early. The CSR was so nice on the phone, but she had no clue what she was doing, which then led me to not know what she was doing and the whole experience was a mess. She told me that she had to perform a Manual Graduation. That's it...no explanation as to what that entailed and when I asked if it was approved she said yes. Then she asked if I wanted to request a CLI as well so we did.

I no joke asked this poor girl 5 different ways if she was performing a request to graduate or if she actually graduated my card. She just kept telling me that she performed a manual graduation and CLI request. Everytime she answered my question she sounded like she was asking a question in return.

"Did you graduate my card or is this a request?"

"Yes?"

It was terrible, I felt so bad for her but I had to talk to her supervisor! I really dont like doing that because I know it is not easy to talk all day to people about money but DANG, I am in the middle of a credit rebuild. I dont need an extra HP and MOST importantly, I do not want to be denied for the graduation but approved for the increase, then have the collateral taken out of my account!! Epecially when I tried to clear all of that information up ahead of the action and was told incorrectly.

Has anyone had any similar experiences with the same situation? I have never had a bad experience with BoA but this one was enough to make my skin crawl.

Re: BoA Secured Graduation Nightmare

I preface this by saying that I have worked in the service industry for many years. Server, medical offices, and now insurance...so I have an extreme amount of patience and tolerance when it comes to dealing with people on the phone...BUT

The supervisor was only slightly more informed and less confident in her tone than the dear CSR. She apologized for the CSRs miscommunication, told me that this would be a coachable moment for her and agreed with me about needing to have all of the facts when someone is performing actions that affect credit/finances. However, when it came to clarifying if the CLI would go through if the Graduation did not...she was not helpful. So basically I am going to have to watch my account like a hawk to make sure an extra $1000 does get transferred out!

Re: BoA Secured Graduation Nightmare

From the Backdoor "sticky" thread at the top of this forum try this number:

800-824-5895 (secured & partially secured accts.)

I had a BoA secured card and always got great service calling this number, got it unsecured in 8 months and got a CLI. Then I called the same number around a year later and got it upgraded to a Cash Rewards card.
