The card was never late and I paid off the card in full, even after they reduced my limit to zero. They only "closed" the card after I paid it off in full.
I wasn't talking about reinstating a card, I meant as a customer. There are posts here about people having their cards closed and unable to get back in with Cap1 afterwards because of a bounced payment or two. Even people that had proof it was a bank error have difficulty. Amex is similar in that once you bounce a payment, all growth stops. They may not close your cards, but you're pretty much dead in the water for a while.
