Hello Fico Forum My DW who has had a quicksilver visa for about 4 years now applied for VentureOne over the weekend, it was in the middle of the night i guess she got bored and it gave her the 10-14 day message, Her scores are low-mid 700's (705-735 ish) we were concerned if she had to send POI or proof of identity, but then early this morning they called her with a message and a verification code to call. She called them back and gave them the code they verified last four of SS, dob, asked did she have an account with them she confirmed she did, and they stated they wanted to ensure it was really her as their system flagged because she applied in the middle of the night and they suspected the app was " suspicious" they said they would continue processing it and should now if it's approved in 2-3 days. They said they did not need Proof of income or identity. FYI she opened two cards in the last year Discover IT and Amex BCE is this wierd or new with Capital One?
When I applied on line for my Capital One QuickSilver card, everything was fine, it said it was reviewing it.
Two days later I received a phone call from a phone # I didn't recognize. Knowing that I had applied, I answered the call.
It was the Fraud Department of Capital One calling me to verify that I had actually applied for the card.
I stated that I had applied, and asked if there was anything they needed from me to further verify & prove who I was, or to get the application approved. He stated he just needed to verify that I had actually applied, and he would annotate it on my application.
Two days later I had not heard back from Capital One, so I just dialed back the phone # which called me. The gentleman in the Fraud Department answered, I explained who I was and paraphrased our previous conversation. He stated he recalled talking to me. I let him know I had not heard back on an approval and wanted to make sure I was going to get the card. He asked me to be patience, and he logged in after I verified my SSN, DOB, address. He let me know that I was approved and had a credit line of $10.00.00. I thanked him for speaking with me "again" and wished him a good day. Other than calling him back, I didn't receive any info about my approved application.
When their Fraud Department calls to verify either your Identity or verify you actually applied doesn't mean you did anything wrong.
Each application is a "New" application regardless if you are an existing customer or not.
* You could be the Victim of Identity Theft and unaware, and they are the One trying to protect both the actual person and themselves.
Congratz to your DW on her Application and pending Approval.
Best Wishes!!!!

My friend has a fraud alert on their EQ and when he requested a CLI he was turned down becasue they could not verify if the request was made. It turns out Cap1 uses the phone number listed on the Fraud Alert and there was none listed. So he had to contact EQ to add the phone number and re-request the CLI. Sure enough a few days after the request he received the verification call from Cap1 and got his CLI.
Does everyone who apply for capital one get a call?
