CAUTION LONG STORY AHEAD!!!!!!!
Hello everyone,
Recently applied for the Venture card with capital one (01/02/19). I had a single digit prequal offer, but at the higher interest rate (25.??% I think). I actually had prequals for every card they offer but at high rates. Well fast forward 20 minutes of filling the app out then closing the tab and repeating the process knowing I was in for the dreaded capital one triple pull........., I hit submit only to be told the 7-10 day message. I have been on a bit of a spree for the last month or so, but the last two cards have not been reported to credit agencies yet. Amex gold was soft inq approval and citi only pulled EX. Called the day after and the nice guy said that I should be recieving a call in the next 24 hours. This was thursday 1/3. Still have not heard anything and afraid to call in. When I attempted to call today (sunday)to check app status, I did not get an automated response about the app, instead the system wanted to send me to a rep to "help me with that request" which naturally they were not opened on a Sunday. So do you guys think I have a chance? Income is around 95k and scores in sig are current from Experian Credit works. TBH I only really want the card as I am trying to replace my old secured account with USAA that refuses to upgrade with a higher tier card. Also I do like that I can transfer points to any airline anytime blah blah blah. Ive been told that this card is really not that amazing but I do love capital one's service. I would not be very butthurt if not approved but would hate to waste pull. I for sure have alot of recent inquries and I fear that may seal the deal. Any thoughts?
Seems like the 7-10 day message is popping up quite a bit lately, so I wouldn't stress it too much. I just was approved for Venture One and had received the 7-10 message. Took AWHILE to find out I was approved, not sure if that was the norm for this time of year or not, but I applied 12/16 and found out probably 1/3 or 1/4 that I was approved. Just FYI...I'd say you got a good shot at it though so don't stress it too much.
I had called back a few days after applying thinking it was a verification thing but CSR just noted the app was still in process. When I called back last week I only verified the standard name, address, SSN and DOB to find it was approved.
For sure on the HPs. Maybe try giving them a call next week, I was on hold for a longggg time the first time I called, but last week I got someone pretty quickly so maybe they made their way through the holiday backlog.
Yes. seems to be what I am finding as well out there as well. Hopefully there will be news today. Called yesterday and the CSR said if I did not hear from them today (yesterday) to call a certain number and go right to the source. I asked if it was the number to the verification dpt and she replied it’s the new account specialist dpt. Deff feel it could go either way!
Had this same conversation in a topic I started yesterday.

Most CCC are sending all applications to the review/verification departments these days.
The fact you did not get denied outright is a positive thing, call the number you were given and ask them if they need more information that will help expedite the decision.
Good luck.
Thats probably a good thing that they do. I did call. few minutes ago and spoke to a nice guy to verified some information: SSN, DOB. He said the application would now move on to the next phase where the decision will be made. I asked if anything he could see said I was denied, and he informed me this was simply verification and to expect a dicision at some point. I thought it was funny that he mentioned he could see I have an existing account with them, but still got flagged for verification. To be honest, I'm all for a company ensuring that they are not passing out cards in my name to criminals. He said I will either get an email or recieve something via snail mail. Im just gonna let it ride from here out. If I get it great, if not, no big deal.
