Capital One credit application question

Can someone tell me if you are declined for a regular credit card how long do you have to wait to apply for a secured card. For some reason I'm thinking it is 30 days.

Is this correct or is there another magic number before I apply again?

Thanks

Re: Capital One credit application question

I'm not quite sure about that but you could just go to thier prequal site to see what pops up for you. It's pretty reliable from my experience...Good Luck

To answer your question. 30 days.

Regardless of what pops up on the pre approval tool.

Re: Capital One credit application question

Too many no AF
Secured CCs that graduate
That don't cost 3 HPs get it (& not graduate)
To chase the Cal-1 secured IMO

Think of this Cap-1 pulls 3 HPs to award their card
Then say 6-8 mo later since they won't graduate their card you're forced into another triple pull to be award a Cap-1 unsecured account

That's 9 HPs?
To at BEST get 1 secured account that will have to be closed and 1 unsecured account

Why blow 3 HPs chasing, that ....When one could app 3 different places chasing a secured CC elsewhere, most likely getting approved for at least 1 before burning all 3 attempts

Cap-1 is cool but the 3 HPs and non graduating thing kills them as a top shelf option in my book.

Between Discover, Citi, US Bank and a crap load of CUs it's hard to justify blowing HPs on Cap-1's offering in this situation

Wouldn't that be 6 hard pulls?

Re: Capital One credit application question

@Em71

If the OP already was denied, that's 3

Then, if they apped secured that's 3 more totaling 6

Then to app from secured to unsecured requires an additional 3 for a grand total of 9

( I know, some are reporting the "possible" unsecuring of the secured card but as of right now...And the last year or so the secured card has NOT insecure for at least over 90% of secured card holders.
So IMO that equals de facto non graduating, such that one has to reapply and subject themselves to 3 additional HPs
This is why the Cap-1 secured, IMO fell of from one of the better choices in secured CCs to a "wait" and check to pre-qual for a Plat/QS1
