Chase CLI?

Chase CLI?

Today I called Chase to close my Hyatt card that I have had for 3 years. Just found the rewards didn't meet my needs and I never really used the card much. Tranferred the $5000 limit to my Marriott card, which I use alot.

While I was on the the phone I decided to ask for a CLI on my Disney card  (I knew it would be a hard pull) that I have had for 6 years, with a $7000 limit. I like to use that card at Disney and for my dues on my Disney vacation club. The CSR said that the CLI was referred to lending and I would get a letter in 7-10. But the application line says 30 days. Is the CLI 30 days like the new app 30 days? like you have a shot at it? Or no? I have NEVER asked for or received a CLI from Chase.

My Chase cards have the lowest limits of all my cards. Scores- TU 795/10 inq.  EQ 755/9 inq. EX 776/11 inq. 3%util.

Any thoughts?

Re: Chase CLI?

It follows similar guidelines. So, if the request is approved, you'll see it reflect online, and if declined, then the letter will disclose the reason(s).

Re: Chase CLI?

My Chase cards are among my lowest lines too-or at least 2 of them are since getting a CLI almost a month ago. With your scores OP you should have gotten an instant decision-so the fact it went to lending then the 7 to 10 day message doesn't sound optimistic.

Re: Chase CLI?

I am curious if you had a banking relationship with Chase prior to getting your cards. There are a lot of threads about how a banking relationship with Chase has helped a lot of people. Me personally, I had a banking relationship with Chase for around 7 years before applying for their credit cards and they were tied with AMEX as my highest limits (even when my scores werent that great) for a while until the Cash Magnet card came out and AMEX went CLI crazy Smiley LOL

I know that Chase doesn't regularly give AUTO-CLIs outside of the normally standard one you get around the 4th statement of account opening, but that one alone, across both my cards, was a large enough increase to where it kept Chase aligned with my other CLs.

Discover on the other hand...well, we don't talk about Discover Smiley Sad

The CSR said 7-10 but the application line says 30 days. But I do agree that not getting an instant decision is not a good sign.

I do have a checking account with Chase. I opened credit cards before the checking account. I have a Marriott, Disney, and Ritz card. Closed my Hyatt card.

Re: Chase CLI?

OP, it is also depends on whether you have reached the "internal" maximum they're willing to lend at this time.

But, the depository relationship isn't really going to influence much the CLI decision.

Re: Chase CLI?

Hmmm, the best way to get "CLIs" with Chase in that case then is to either move some CL over from an existing card or just apply for another Chase card when your scores are at their best and then just move some of the CL over.

Sorry to hear that they are pulling a Discover... Smiley Sad

Today the 30 day message turned to 7-10. No CLI... and to add insult to injury they double pulled me EQ and EX. Chase has left me feeling salty! If I didn't use the rewards I would cancel all my Chase accounts. When I bought my Disney Vacation Club membership I ran $25,000 through my Disney rewards card. Had to pay 4 times in one month. Would have run $50,000 through if my limit was higher, ran out of time before closing. Wrote a check for the rest and missed out on hundreds of dollars in rewards. UGHHH!

If I were you, I'd call for reconsideration. I've had success in the past with Chase. You've already taken the hit, and it doesn't hurt to try.

Re: Chase CLI?

Sorry to hear they turned you down OP--especially after that double pull. They double pulled me too earlier this month for a CLI on my 4 year old CSP--but at least this time they gave me something ($5K) unlike the past several tries and wasted HPs--but I'll never try for any more! One thing I did notice though that I didn't catch in your orig. post--are all of those INQs you have under 12 mos. old? If so that could be what the denial was for.
