Chase Denial for???

I used secure msg to request an increase on my Chase Freedom, which was not instantly given, but when I checked the next day it was approved.

Right after, I applied for CHASE SLATE using the link on my online account that I had offers. Got the 7-x days pending message. Recieved the letter today that it was denied for the reason - "Too many requests for credit or opened accounts with us"

I called the recon line but they weren't much help. I asked if it was because I just applied for the Freedom increase? She said try again in 30 days, and I couldn't even xfer my new credit line from Freedom to the wanted Slate

I read about the 5/24 rule, but I don't think I have a single new account these past 2 yrs minus credit increases...

Anyone have similiar experience? I will probavbly try again in 30 days because i want to balance xfer to the Slate.

My FICO is ~750 with no negative remarks.

Re: Chase Denial for???

Welcome to the forum

Sometimes Chase will only approve 1 card if this is your first card with them. Was it?

That said usually if a analyst said try in 30 days in most cases I would heed the advice and try in 60-90 days

That way you've shown them some history in the relationship

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: Chase Denial for???

OP, I'm speaking from exp. They count a CLI as a req for new accounts.

You need to speak to a recon analyst that knows what they are talking about. the first one I spoke to was bad, second was very knowledgeable and helpful.

Either wait another month, or continue calling until you speak to right rep, although they write down notes every time you call, so not sure about that one.

For me, my approval for the FU was on 10/16, my approval for a CLI was on 11/16. I applied for the Freedom on 12/16, was denied, even upon recon, second recon on 12/31, was successful.
