I applied for the Chase World of Hyatt card last Wednesday (July 10th) and got notification that there was a hard pull (nothing weird here), but was told that the application was pending. On the morning of the 16th I got notification that there had been another hard pull, but no e-mail from Chase in regards to status of my application. I quickly found out from the automated phone number that my application had been approved.
Is it common for Chase to do a double hard pull for one application? Wondering if anyone has any data points on this.
I've definitely seen double hard pulls happens, but it usually occurs when the app goes through recon, and the rep will usually confirm that you want them to pull it again to reconsider.
You could always call them and ask that you never authorized the second and maybe they'll remove it.
If you are talking double hard pull form from say Exp/EQ or TU/Exp, etc.. Very typical and more common than not.

This was only through TU

Because your screenshot is cut off, it's impossible to tell but there is a possibility you're being notified of the pull by two different CRA.
Look back on your report and see if alert from 07/10 and 07/16 are referencing two different CRAs.

The screenshot was directly from my CK TU report. Nothing on EX but my recent Citi card applications
Believe ck has a bug with inquiries currently. Hopefully one of those will disappear shortly if they are both tu inquiries
If you want to make sure, Wallethub provides daily TU report, so feel free to check there also.

Doesn't look like it, unless Wallethub is having the same issue.
When I got my Chase Amazon Visa a couple years ago, on an instant approval, they pulled both EX and EQ. So double pulls (1 pull on two CRAs) is common for Chase.
Two pulls on TU, not as common. Maybe due to recon? Maybe give them a call and see what's up.
It's still better than CapOne who will hard pull ALL 3 bureaus on a card app.
