Chase “Not sufficient credit information” denial.

So, I want to give as much data as possible before asking my question so bare with me.

Experian Fico 8 709, experian Fico 9 711

2 paid off baddies left on report that fall off in January and April of 2025.

Utilization 39%
New CC Accounts: 1/24

income: 114k

largest credit line is 6400

AAoA: 7 years 10 months

Live in TX

frozen equifax and transunion

So I logged into chase credit journey where I saw I was pre approved for all of their personal cards (There was something on the main page where it says you are already approved, I clicked that, then I saw all the green starred preapprovals). I applied for the chase freedom unlimited and got the we will get back to you message. I had also been trying to open an account with chase but was denied everytime so I tried to kill 2 birds with 1 stone and went into the branch that Monday (I applied Saturday night). The branch banker was able to sign me up with an account with a 300 dollar promotion they are having. When I asked about the credit card application, she called and someone told her that I was already denied for "not sufficient credit information". She then said that was all they could tell her but that I could call and get more information. I did call twice and was told that I'd have to wait for the letter in the mail.

My 2 questions are:

1) Does anyone know what that denial reason actually means?

2) should I call to recon it now or wait until I get the denial letter?

I wonder if they wanted transunion and they couldn't pull it resulting in the denial, no reason you have to wait for the letter, the letter I doubt is going to say anything different

Re: Chase “Not sufficient credit information” denial.

A first Chase card is almost always a 2-bureau pull and subsequent cards may be. You should unfreeze EQ & TU and call 1-888-338-2586, find your way through the robocrap to an actual human being and explain. They'll likely tell you it's because they couldn't pull from one of those 2 and, when you tell them it's now unfrozen, ask your permission to do a hard pull. If it's approved, they should tell you so immediately and inform you of your limit.

Super annoying when someone gets their needed help then doesn't provide any update that could help someone else. 😐

You could have just asked for an update.

I would have told you that I don't have an update because I've yet to receive their letter.  Everytime I call, they tell me to wait for their letter in the mail.  They recently recent the letter so I'm waiting on that.
