No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
Very well said.
Coming from where I was, they are high end. Def not a status symbol, but more of a token to show myself how far I have come. I had AMEX plat and gold prequals. But I just couldn't justify the AF on those, even with the SUB.
Their cards would likely meet my spending. I have no real particular needs. I carry very little balance, if any at all. So 0% intro or BT are not a factor for me. I could see 0% intro being useful down the road at house purchase time, for the invariable stuff that will be needed. Right now I think I am more after shaping my profile to be as best as I can get it for mortgage qualification.

I suggest going in and asking? If you ask a teller while doing a txn with them the term is pre-approved credit card or gold box offers. For bankers it would just be pre-approved credit card offers.
If you don't keep enough avg daily balance in your accounts, it doesn't help, BTW. I suggest 2k+.

What if your a credit card only customer of Chase with no bank accounts?
@Remedios wrote:Chase is by no means "high end".
If you go through approvals, you will see score range from 640-whatever.
If their cards meet your spending, that's your high end card. If they don't, it's piece of plastic/metal.
There isn't a single thing that's special about Chase or Amex if their cards don't serve their purpose.
Before you decide to go on *high end* search, evaluate what you're spending money on, if 0% intro is needed, availability of BT offers, etc.
There is a whole lot more to a card than lender who issues it.
It's a payment method, not a status symbol. Do what's right for you, because it's not like we staple them to shirt for everyone to see.
I agree with you however there are some value propositions that Chase offers that none of the other credit cards, I have, can claim. Chase is the only credit card issuer I have that simultaneously:
1.) Offers generous and competitive SUBs
2.) Allows you to redeem in multiple ways like gift cards, travel, statement credit, cash back.
3.) No minimum for cash back redemption and can redeem in any amount at anytime.
4.) Not forced to open a bank account for cash back redemption.
Correct, if you value those, then sure.
I've banked with them for over 15 years, I don't cashback, and when I do, I'm not bothered by minimum redemption since those are spend driven.
Who is forcing you to open DDAs, though?
There are some products such as AR that require existing "relationship", but that can be loan or any other product, including investments, brokerage accounts, IRAs
All CUs will "force" you to open DDA and stash $5.00. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect some products will have strings attached.
I think you misunderstood what I tried to say....there is nothing wrong with Chase or their cards (if I thought there was, I'd be gone long time ago), but there is nothing exclusive about their cards.
No excessive credit seeking, utilization in check, no previous sour relationships with them, you're in.
They are one of the largest credit card issuers in the country, you don't got to be that while being "exclusive".
There are some cards that aren't for mere mortals, though a few around here have them. If one wants to pursue exclusive cards, they probably already know which ones those happen to be.
I never had any prequals either but I knew the exact date where I'd be under 5/24. I kept checking for prequals after that date and didn't get any. I finally just said whatever and applied for the Sapphire Preferred and was instantly approved. This was not even a week ago.
