I got the Citi BestBuy Visa last year just because I wanted to cultivate a relationship with them. I was later told it was a waste of time. Can someone confirm this?
I also just opened the Chase Amazon card. I was already over the 5/24 rule so I have to wait a while before applying but will this account help me with approval odds and SL with Chase when I do apply?
You have excellent scores and CLs including Amazon so I won't worry on Chase card SL. Won't they try to match others you have, Boa, Amex, WF..
I'm not sure. That was more or less what I'm trying to figure out.

I have 2 Chase cobranded cards but have never been able to get a core card.

Is one of those cards the Amazon Visa? Your example is what I am afraid of...
Your profile seems solid, once you're under 5/24 the Chase approval shouldn't be an issue at all. Try for some CLI on your other cards in the meantime. Also, keep checking your App, you might get in while over 5/25 with a green/black checkmark pre-qual.
I thought I read that they were closing that loophole and still denying prequals if over the 5/24 rule? Any recent examples of approvals?

Citi has kept their co and core brands different. Just because you get a co-brand card doesn't help you getting back in Citi's portfolio for core cards.
As for Chase, they have looked onto people's credit and prefer to see CORE cards over co-brand cards. As for the move with Chase Amazon, that is up to them but see some history but probably won't be much.
^ Clear example was from a DP from someone said they only had a $9k CL that was co-brand and the ONLY card they had. When applied at Chase, they only got $500 CL. After they talked with chase, they said they consider CORE > co-brand cards.

I am on 5/24 about 2 months and got approved. My guess with the flood of people who did it when the approval thread was booming was because Amazon was considering moving the Amazon Visa card to another lender. This no doubt prompted Chase to respond with that.

Yes it is. The other is Hyatt. I also had a third, the AARP card, but that was taken over by Barclays.
