Plan to apply to two CC from AOD, PenFed, NASA in two weeks. Looking for DPs on type of POI each CU requires.
AOD: All app documents ready except POI; member of non-geofenced entity and confirmed with AOD about eligibility.
PenFed: Member since Aug 2019 with checking accout
NASA: Member since May 2021 with checking account
AAoA: 4 yr 1 m
AoOA: 30 yrs 7 m
AoYA: 3 m (AMEX Gold SP)
CL: $79,000 with 6 CC plus 2 AMEX charge card
EQ HP: 3, most recent 6/2020
Ex HP: 6, most recent 12/2020
UTIL: Few $s each month
Credit Mix: CC, Car Loan, Mort.
Income:$120,000, company employee
EQ, EX FICO 8: 812, 815
(1) AOD will be tough to get approved with DTI 36%. What POI do they ask for? Only pay stubs? 1 month or 2 months? Ask for W-2 and/or 1040 tax return?
(2) PenFed DPs says some apps requiring POI and some not. If required, same POI question as AOD?
(3) NASA DPs says requires POI. Same POI questions AOD.
Ideal outcome, approved for AOD and PenFed. Second choice PenFed and NASA. Thank you for your DPs and advice!

PenFed and always been easy for me with NO POI. Been a member since 2012.
NASA friend just had a mess with them approved the card and at the last min denied it and did not want to say why turns out they put an app in for the wrong product they rep did and said nothing they can do about it.
AOD no experance with them.
@Cory88 Appreciate your DPs. From the recent DPs on AOD, the app process requires lots of jumping through the hoops, including DTI and POI. Good to know about your friend's experience with NASA.
Everybody's experience is different, but PenFed app seems to be the most straight forward. I've built a one year relationship (membership, checking a/c) with them so I'm hoping the app will go smoothly. App for Power Cash Rewards VISA Signature.
Many thanks!
I would say for AOD be proactive as possible with showing income. I attached my own paystub, my spouse's paystub, and our tax return to show that we combine income (to show a far better DTI than I would have on my own.)
@unsungivy Thank you for your insightful advice on AOD. The recent DPs mention that AOD are sensitive to DTI. I'm 36% at the moment (wife no income) and that figure may have been acceptable during the initial wave of apps; perhaps not now.
When did you you apply? Your DTI when you applied? And did you get approved?
Thank you again for your guidance!

I apped on 6/11, was approved on 6/15 for 5k @ 7.49% APR. I'm not sure my actual DTI honestly, but I have 50k in student loans, 10k car loan, I keep my cards AZEO under 1k, and I only make 40k a year in my own name. P2 makes literally twice what I do.
@unsungivy Thank you for the very informative DP. Appreciate it!

AOD will be a tough nut to crack with that DTI. The seem to have an overly aggressive formula for figuring DTI and they lean heavily on this in their underwriting. Honestly I'd try to get that down into the 20's before attempting AOD. AOD also seems to be frugal on what kind of income they accept unless you're basic salary or 40 hour/ week type income.
Look up the AOD mega threads for tons of further datapoints.
As far as NASA and PenFed, you'll likely do ok with them.
AOD denied me for DTI back in March and mine is lower. But the second denial reason was new accounts. Considering how aggressive I've been in rebuilding over the last year, I'm leaning towards that being the primary reason.
@ChargedUp Thank you for the advice. I've read through hundreds of AOD postings on the forum. Indeed, AOD is a tough nut to crack missing the initial app wave. My DTI will not go down for a long time due to my mortgage. My income is 120,000 basic salary 40hr/wk. 3% cashback is very attractive and thus pursuing AOD.
I'm now gravitating towards PenFed 1.5% + 0.5% (with checking a/c). Currently, my website shows a "You're approved for..PenFed Visa Gold." I don't think this offer is 100% guaranteed, but the probability should be high. I'd like to get the PenFed Power Cash to get the 2% aggregate. Hopefully with a membership and checking account for one year will be a plus factor in the underwriting process.
Thank you again.
