So my credit card history is rather newish.
Discover It Secured $2500 about 5 months old
CSR 10k about 2 months old
Chase Ink Unlimited 10k was this month
Capital One (AU) 1k Dec 2020
CURRENT FICO EQ-785 TU-800, EX-789
Income over 200k with my business as an owner operator Truck Driver
I have student loans and child support (both closed) that's been reported to bureaus that show my oldest aging are 10-16years depending which CB you look at.
Soooo all that said I've been eyeing the Amex ecosystem since I like the idea of SP for CLI and possible other cards later on down the road.. I know i already have some redundancy with the CSR but I still find the Plat AF acceptable with the benefits I can use
IE- audible paid for
Clear for airports
2nd option for lounges when I do travel
Global entry for my international flights back
$200 credits for incidentals (checked baggage)
And a few other things..
I show pre-approved from Amex SP .. I just wanted to get into the Amex system now so later on I'll already have an established relationship with them.. also the SUB was 125k for me.
Any thoughts on why or why I shouldn't do this now.. I figure it'll be better for me to have 3 main personal cards all aging at or around the same time to help with verge later on..
The only reason I can think of not to apply is that apparently chase can be spooked and possibly mess with your recent approvals with them.
You can find a bit of reference about this on the forums here if you have time to snoop around with the forum search.
I expect others may also chime in about this type of AA by chase.
If you want the Amex then go for it. I do not think you have that many cards to make any lender worry about you overextending your self. Also you paid off your student loans which also proves you are good a gold. If any other lender is worried about it you can always call them and explain. I would not worry too much about it. Go for it and get your Amex Card.
If your showing Pre qual I would go for it .....I don't think chase will shut you down for getting another approval close to theirs .....I was way more aggressive then that and I'm still standing lol ....Just don't try to apply for too many chase cards close to each other and you should be good
