Re: Denied Amazon Prime Credit Card (Chase)

Wowwwww...that's just crazy. I would never have guessed a denial in your situation. So sorry.

I've been eyeing this card myself, but I'm still 5/24 until September / October. Even then, I still have a ton of inquiries from my auto loan until the end of October. Given how tight lending has become, I will easily wait until the new year for this one. Yikes!

Re: Denied Amazon Prime Credit Card (Chase)

Sorry for your denial OP.

I know it stings.

I have had plenty.

Like falling off a bike, you get back up and ride again.

As one person eluded to, just part of the process.

I have seen perfect 850 scores denied, and 580 approved.

Some things in credit will never make sense.

Don't take it personally. Sure we have feelings and get hurt,

No one likes rejection, but it is just a part of applying.

Have I ever been upset at a lender, ****bleep**** yes,

I just learned not to take it personal no more.

Bottom line, it is just business.

I rarely apply for credit cards, been years, i am very conservative, but decided to go for it, since i shop at Amazon alot, never assumed it would be denied.   Chase pulled Experian and Equifiax (i froze them right back).    Too many inquiries and new bank account (WF & HYSA Marcus), called and - no budge.

Did they actually list having a new bank account as a reason for denial?

I love my Amazon SC from Synchrony.  Gets alot of use at 5% cash back

Think about them if you still want an Amazon card. Sorry about your denial

DP's

FICO - 785, 797 & 804

Util  -1% to 3%
Total CL $73k

Income $140k

Inquiries 5 each bureau (bought home in 2019, lender pulled reports 5 times in 8 months)

Chase be crazy denying a profile like yours especially after 2 pulls.  Dont worry, there are better options than a Bank who has so much money that they can choose with whom to approve, so can you do the same. Discovrr often has good Amazon quarters or even Amazon card by Sync is a good option. It takes a strong MFer to apply many ccs lol  and getting used to  denials isnt easy unless your name is Average JoeSmiley Wink

Well, which lender cannot choose whom to approve?

You're making it sound as if that's something specific to Chase..

I didn't see the same reaction when AimHigh got denied for NFCU card.

In fact, it went something like " NFCU us great, you just need more time"

This is no different

Maybe OP needs more time.

Sorry, i stick by my post. Of course ALL lenders can pick and choose  who they want to approve. And im not talking about @Aim_High  here.   We arent talking about a Chase CSR here but the Amazon card which with a profile such as OPs , should have had a better chance. Im not going to read all of Ops post to find out all details that may have been left out , im going by what i read in op.  When i wrote this post i was talking about Chase and my opinion, anyone wants to read past that is free  to do so as you have and thats your opinion as i have mine.

I dont see what CSR has to do with anything. Logic would dictate that "strong profile" would get approved for either, unless there is a deeper reason for denial, and I believe OP touched on it later.

It's not just this thread, it's every thread.

NFCU denials are treated as weddings instead of funerals, and there is a clear cult following around that particular lender. That's fine, I'm glad they work for some, but that doesn't mean that other lenders dont work for many either.

There is a clear duplicity in a way people are talked to after NFCU denial and other lenders. When it's NFCU, there is patting on the head, telling whomever all they need to do is be patient, they will come around, while with other lenders its "oh that's crazy, cannot see how they would deny anyone, plenty of fish, their loss"

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, everyone is. The only issue I take with opinions is when it's the case of "They didn't give me what I wanted, so they suck", because that's incomplete story.

Denials are fact of credit life, they happen for various reasons, and no one is safe and/or sheltered from them.

Navy is just as likely to deny as Chase, the only difference is in UW and what rubs that particular lender the wrong way.

The fact they sometimes hand out large SLs had garnered them cult like status. If they stopped, they would become new Capital One.

As far as not reading all the posts, or not asking pertinent questions...that just indicates one's mind is already made up.

Do I go back and read? Sure, but not out of malice. We often dont know that something we thought was unimportant thing happens to be a big deal, like collection popped up, owed money to a bank other lender absorbed, bounced payment because of checking account switch etc.

It's a lot easier to read something that's already been publicly shared, then to interrogate ad infinitum, and irritate someone because of the interrogation that happens when guess work starts.

Re: Denied Amazon Prime Credit Card (Chase)

Yes new bank account was included part of denial (someone asked earlier).   When i opened WF back in May i got emai from Experian i had a new banking account post to report.

A few have asked to consider applying for Amazon Store Card, and I thought about it and elected not to at this time.  I am going to the "Garden".  Its serene, peaceful and  my favorite place. I would like to get a new cc cause it been years since i had one,  maybe few years

Need a new car next 6 months to a year, so that is my focus.  thanks.

Re: Denied Amazon Prime Credit Card (Chase)

Wow 5 Inquiries and new bank accounts were the reason for denial. Bummer! Sorry about that. I'm applying for this card September 2021. I won't be applying for any new bank accounts, I will be 4/24, and my inquires will be tu-0, ex-0, and eq-0 by September 2021 so I'm hoping that is good enough. Chase has always been good to me but who knows now with everything going on.

OP said it's been several years since getting any CC (so 5/24 is not the reason). All inquiries are from their mortgage process last year. Apparently that was the reason for denial, along with a new bank account.

That is so strange. I've never seen the bank account as a reason. I had worse scores, more inquiries, and certainly more bank accounts when I got my CSP last September.
