Since you said feel free to speculate, I have 2 questions.

Are there any NSFs (non sufficient funds) on the bank statements you uploaded?

Was there an abailable balance of the $200 to pay the deposit?

Just some other thoughts.

No, no NSF nor baddies of any kind. I have well over $200 to cover the deposit.

Well well... hope their letter has a good exclamation for this, but never good to be denied for even secured cards it’s your own money anyways.
