I started applying for cards yesterday to try and begin expanding my credit profile. I do not have a good credit score it was 619 on both Transunion and Equifax. I applied and was approved for a Chase Freedom Unlimited $1500 limit. I then applied for a Discover IT card and was approved at $7500, which was shocking to me. I was a previous authorized user on a family member's Discover card but that account has been closed. That's the only history I have with Discover. So I'm wondering if perhaps it was a mistake and they will catch it later and lower that limit or if I just "lucked out" somehow. Thoughts and advice appreciated.
Good Morning and welcome. May I ask where you are getting your scores from. Are they FICO scores or Credit Karma. If they are CK, it's a possibility that your FICO scores (the score that Discover and Chase use) could be higher.
I'm just going by Credit Karma, I do not know what my FICO score is. Hoping maybe they include a copy of it when they send the card.
And just to clarify I was approved for $6500, not $7500 as I originally posted. Not that it really matters much but just correcting myself.

Thanks for the advice and thoughts everyone I appreciate it. I checked my FICO through Discover and it was 728. I'm learning the differences between credit score reports and the FICO.
There are different scoring models - CreditKarma uses vantage scores, which we typically refer to as 'FAKO's. They are real credit scores, just not scores banks typically use.
