I'm not at a point in my journey to stop asking, but I would think that there would come a time to stop requesting.
Keep both your credit and your body in top shape!

People say they don't need the extra credit and reduce it, but what happens when you do need it and can't get it? We all know the lenders are much less likely to give an increase if all of the cards have high balances. You could need it temporarily due to extended job loss, getting in an accident and needing to pay hospital bills, or any other unexpected emergency. Of course, a large emergency cash account is the best option, but not everyone has those. Combined all the cards I have are more than I need, but it's nice to have the extra room. I just keep asking and haven't been declined for being at the maximum exposure, yet.
I haven't gotten the denial of sufficient credit for anything, but it's mostly credit unions that do that. I have all the credit union cards I want, so I'm not concerned about that denial at all.
Tja...I do not know how much of my credit I could actually use before lenders would shut down my accounts? I do not think that if I would need it I could use it....Hope I will never have to find out 😉
+1 That why I don't quite buy into the "get it in case you need it" But it's probably OK for short-term emergencies, less for something like job loss.

Im at over 100k with 7 cards so I'm happy
Now your profile is an aspirational goal of mine... good job!
I would like to have 5 cards with about 5k limit on each and just take care of those. In fact I dont really have a dream card other than the nordstrom visa signature since thats a card in lost in my bk and I do frequent that store. My goal with my credit file is to pay off debt and not use any card I cant pay in full next statement.

Through the knowledge I have atttained mostly on these boards I have a managed to increse my limits from $5K to over $220K in less than 2 years and now my average staring limit on new apps seesm to come in at around $15K.
Personally? When they start asking for tax documents on CLI request.
