My mother has the Capital One Venture card, while I have the VentureOne card. I'd like to use the referral link of my mother so she can have 20,000 bonus points. So I logged in to Capital One web site with my account, and started to see if I'm pre-approved for the Capital One Venture card. It asked me if I was US citizen, I said yes, then it asked me "Do you have citizenship in another country?" and I said yes, and indicated the country. Finally, I was pre-approved for the VentureOne! Because I was logged in, the system should have known that I already had the VentureOne. Why did it ask if I had citizenship in another country? If I had said no, would it have helped me in getting approved for the Venture card? What are the requirements to get the Capital One Venture? I was denied once for it in the past.

It asked for citizenship because of a number of laws that require banks to know their customers. Also most banks require you to have legal presence in the US for approval. They do not want to chase people internationally. They will also verify it so lieing is bad. Being logged in does not matter since you are allowed to have multiple cards of the same type. The only person that truly knows the requirements for a Venture card is Capital One and they have already basicly said that they are not interested in having you at that level at this time.

They have no way of verifying if you have multiple citizenships FYI.
