So I finally (finally) re-applied to FNBO after the rejection a year and a half ago. It processed the app and said I will receive a written status of my application in 2-4 weeks.
That's a rejection, isn't it?
@KforceWhelp....I think they hate me forever for reasons I'll never know.....assuming it's a rejection....when do I next try with someone else?

I don't have a clue, I thought your profile was excellent.
My daughter and others have received FNBO with much less.
I would go for whatever other card you want, and just write off the FNBO card.
What are your other want cards?
With a 792/797/803 and 12mo aya I'm pretty sure my profile IS strong. And every other bank seems to agree, except these guys. There's just something off there.
Fwiw, I haven't gotten an mf alert yet about an HP. Maybe they didn't even process it? Though I recall mf isn't always immediate. It was a weird application. They also didn't email that I submitted it, but also did email a one time password to submit it, so they have the right email.
There's a chance they just manually process and haven't even pulled yet I guess, but 2-4 WEEKS is extreme, and in my experience with rejections from them they really can take a month.
I guess it's not hopeless until I see the HP with no approval.
If it's not them I'll have to look what current things are around. I know the ppmc is probably the next most beneficial, but I'm not going to do business with a Mickey mouse bank....I only tried with these guys for the huge rewards. . Last time I looked I know USB C+/CA were promising along with BofA CC. Might be something new out there I didn't know about yet, too. Main criteria is not from a lender I already have.
Second criteria is that none of them will have huge blanket rewards other than ppmc which is out for reasons that begin with S, end in Y and rhyme with "in crony". So it's mostly for something unique, even if it's for extended warranty or something nice to have.
AAAAND..... There it is. Denied.
I don't know what problem they have with me and I no longer care. They're a joke. One that keeps causing me harm. Repeatedly.
I don't even care what other card I go for as long as it's not them. I just regret waiting a year just for the same circus. Now that they have cost me another inq... When is the soonest I can try with absolutely anybody else?
Not necessarily. Me with near 850 scores on all three credit bureaus got the message recently - 7 to 10 days. Very common now a days. Of course mine was not FNBO.... Als0 YMMV..Cheers!
Also tagging @SouthJamaica since you were part of the first saga with them.... And here's the bitter end.
Also forgot to tag @Kforce in the previous reply.
Never again this bank. Ever. Honestly I'd even consider syncb over them after all, but only if they were the last bank on earth - fnbo, not even if they were!
Soo...next one 6 months? 3 months? I know not usb if so, I'll shop for one that's less inquiry sensitive. Not waiting a year again. Learned that lesson.
Just to update, the HP alert finally appeared, EX as expected. Only a 4 point drop, so that's nice I guess.
I still need to shop around for what card is next now. And figure out the soonest it's reasonable to try with a fresh inq (and first person to say a year gets shouted at through a megaphone )
It seems to me there is an uptick in denied card applications for posters with scores near or in the 800's. Apparently lenders are looking beyond just scores.

Yeah, to a point that's been true for a while, I don't think any banks use the actual FICO scores anymore but rather generate their own scoring system from your reports, so the raw score itself isn't that important. But in this case I also think FNBO is a special kind of snowflake where I have a history with them from the start of my credit journey (young profile) to present (mature card) of them never liking me at all (2 prequals on Evergreen - deny, 1 app for this card, deny (called, they told me I "didn't have enough other cards, but the account ages were fine it's just not enough other cards." So I groomed my profile for a year and a half specifically to fulfill their prior denial (2 more cards, 0/12, 2/24, high scores, etc.) Couldn't guess what the excuse is this time but it all translates to "we specifically don't like something about you and probably never will."
Considering I got CLI's on 3/3 cards I apped for CLI for just before apping this, and 2 of them gave the largest CLI ever, and 1 gave the amount I requested....I'm not sure there's so much of a "something else beyond scores" on my profile that's offputting to banks, generally speaking, currently so much as "FNBO explicitly doesn't like something about me and always hasn't and always won't." Unfortunately I now have that inq that will put off others. For the second time from them.
My impression of them remains because they're small compared to the big dogs they're carefully always treading thin ice, and as such they have a very, very, VERY specific customer profile that is the only customer they accept, And anyone that's not it is denied (or closed out if they're already a customer.) And I'm not it. Doesn't mean EVERY other bank would have taken me, but I think just because FNBO denied me (again) doesn't mean much relating to if other banks would have. They, specifically, have been very consistent in having some unknown disinterest in me and just applying arbitrary reasons for why. I also suspect if I lived inside their geofence region the outcome would be different, though that's just speculation, and would be pretty scummy of them to be doing to their national retail partners.
FNBO is strange. I don't much care for them and honestly think they suck. Probably not as bad as synchrony , credit one commenity etc. but if I didn't already have a decently aged card from them I wouldn't seek them out for business anyway. I only keep the one card I have from them open with just a very slow trickle of small charges. Honestly not worth seeking out or loosing sleep over FNBO.
