I decided to get over my frustration from being denied for a Chase Sapphire card three times in 4 years and went for the Chase Slate today. I finally got a foot in the door! While I'm still jaded about the CSP, I will stick with the Slate and use that for some small balance transfers and keep the utilization under 60%. They gave me a modest CL. Nothing to shout about but I wasn't planning on transferring anything near that much as most of my debt is paid off.
I can't remember but I think there were a few questions about some cards opening the door for other cards. Is this the case with Chase with a Slate card opening the door to a CSP? For example, I know for Citibank, you can switch between ThankYou tiers. I went from Diamond Preferred to ThankYou preferred to Prestige. Same with Amex. I've gone from a Gold Card, to Platinum, back to Green with no problem.
I have a Chase Marriot card with a $5000 CL that is paid off and sitting empty. I diteched the IHG card. Even with their IHG Spire hotel rewards tier, service and membership benefits at thier hotels sucked to be the highest tier. I didn't see the point in keeping the card. Plus I was a little pissed at Chase for denying me for the CSP.

I have a HELOC that has a draw period that has ended. So, even though the draw period has ended, Chase sees it as an open line of credit. The utiliation is over 90% on it. But since the fixed rate is only 3.85%, I'm not throwing a lot of cash on it to pay it down fast. I'd rather pay down my higher interest debt first. That's the ONLY thing they brought up on the recon line.
I'm unware of the reason for the previous denials before last year. Last year was the first time I heard of a recon line.
