After my successful double approvals with WF and FNBO, I continued looking for another possible balance transfer card with 0% intro APR. So I found BoA Bankamericard. I figured it's been 5+ since my BK-7 fell off where I did include BoA so why not give it a shot....
However, I received an instant denial and a letter will arrive telling me why. 5 years ago, I was instantly denied for the same card but offered a 99/500 secured but rejected it. It'll be interesting to see what BoA says now....
Have you tried making them whole again?
Not at the moment...

You should have taken the secured card way back when. They were handing you a lifeline that not everybody gets. BofA is tough, and they have a right to be if they so choose.

^This.
I opened a $1K secured card with BofA about three years post-discharge. Six months later I called and asked to be graduated. They did. I then asked for a CLI, and they increased my limit to $5K, the exact same amount I burned them for in my Chapter 7. It had graduated to some nondescript card and I told them I wanted the Alaska Airlines card and I wanted the 40K bonus. They went back and forth and said they couldn't approve me for another card, so I asked them if I closed the (nondescript) card would they give me the Alaska card and bonus? They came back with yes. So they closed that card and opened the Alaska card.
Over the next three to four years I tried for CLI's but always denied. Then after about four years (7 years post discharge), they increased my limit to like $10K (I requested the CLI -- shocked when it was granted). I have since gotten it up to $15K. Now I only get denied CLI's for not enough usage on the card.
The BofA secured card is an excellent way to get back in with them. And it's not a POS like the Citi secured.
UPDATE!
Got the letter in the mail.... it says it needs my SSN and proof of income... I guess that wasn't an instant rejection at all... however, what have my chances become after getting a letter like this?
Decided against sending in the info. Don't really need any more credit right now.
I burned them years ago with settled charge off. I took the 99/500 card when they offered it though, which the then graduated to unsecured and they were kind enough to still give me the $200 welcome bonus and Customized Cash Rewards, but it's been stuck at the baby limit of $500 ever since. I still request a CLI every few months since they haven't disabled the button, but I just get a letter with the "Current or past deliquency" as the reason for the denial. To me, it seems likely I will not get a CLI increase until any lates fall off my report, which is another 2 years.
