Nicely Said. I was declined for a Soft Pull Cli this week, and was little miffed, but your post put it into perspective.
The CLI game. sometimes feels like a Casino

I went through a run of being told no all the time, so I figure I'll just manage the credit I have and pick up some auto CLIs along the way. I'm also trying to let all my inquiries age off and I haven't applied for any new credit this year.
Well Said. I have a 5 figure card that I only put $10 or so a month on, no reason to push the envelope any further.

With a few cards, yes.
My limit with Belk is $5k, and since they don't sell bedding or furniture (at least in my area) there's really no reason for me to request the limit to be any higher.
I'm also pleased with my $15.3k CL on my NFCU MasterCard; I only use it occasionally, and I feel (personally) that it would be 'pushing it' for me to request a CLI on it due to my modest income and seldom use of the card.
I would like just a little more on several of my other cards, but I suspect within the next year or so I'll be at the point that I'll have enough, again for someone with my profile.
UncleB, a little off topic, but I have the Wally and Sams Mastercards, and wondering if you knew how high their CL's can go?
I like to have a lower utility with my top spending card which is an amex, it's over 20k. In gen I would like to get all the usuers to extend 20k in credit. The exception is BoA. I think I am still trapped into actually paying for this card, astronomical APR, lowest limit in my wallet, yet it's my OLDEST card. one of these days I'm going to get the nerve to ask to speak with a retention specilist and see what they can do or I'll close it.

I've seen several people on here with Wal-Mart and Sam's Club MasterCards with limits of $25k. It's possible to go even higher, but at some point Synchrony will ask you to send over proof of income (I've read of this happening for some when their credit line gets to around $35k, but YMMV).
If you have a good TU score $25k seems to be fairly easy to reach with Synchrony, but the issue most people have is since Synchrony issues so many different branded cards (MC/V and PLCC) it's easy to hit their maximum exposure of $100k really quick if you have large credit limits.
I've actually read quite a few threads where people speak of calling to lower their credit limit on certain Synchrony cards to "free up" that much to be available for a different card (i.e. lower their Wal-Mart MasterCard limit to make more available for their Sam's Club MasterCard, or vice versa).
Hope this helps!
I am no longer requesting CLIs. I am happy with the limits on my cards and do not need increases.
I'm not taking HPs for increases anymore, but I'll continue to request when it's a SP. I'd like to get all of my cards to 10k.

I'd like that on a few cards. Gonna be hard with blispay.
I'm saving a car-payment's worth of cash each month with the goal of buying my next car with cash. I'd like to keep growing my credit limits so that I can pay the dealer using a rewards credit card, then pay the card off with the cash I saved.
I think I may be getting pretty close to not asking for CLI's any longer, at least for a few cards. My Discover IT has a CL of $47,200, so I may hit them one more time just to see if they will actually let it hit $50K. My CapOne Venture is at almost $31K, so I don't see it going much higher. I have two Amex cards that total just over $40K between the two of them, so I doubt they will allow much more exposure. I have a Barclay sitting at $7K, however there is no way I will take a HP for an increase from them.
