I do not read about as many app sprees now as I did a few years ago but just in case anyone is considering it, make sure you do not app for more cards than you can afford and lose your initial spend bonuses. Each year, people app for 3, 4, or even 5 cards and fail to meet the spend bonus within the first 1-3 months.
With that being said, what card do you think is most beneficial to app for this holiday season? I'm not personally in the market but it can be fun to see what creditors throw out in deals come December.
That is great advice, azguy! I just got approved for jetBlue Plus, where you get 30,000 bonus points after $1000 spend in the first three months. Sensibility said that, since my scores did not take any hit whatsoever from the inquiry and new account added to my CRs, I should go ahead and app for the Venture which is the next card on my list. The thing that stopped me was what you just warned people about. I knew I couldn't meet the $3000 in spend the first three months and achieve the jetBlue bonus too without some serious frivolous spending which would leave me with balances. i will wait until I meet the jetBlue spend, and then app for the Venture.
The jetBlue Plus and the Venture are the most beneficial for me because I was looking to get a good travel card. I will be interested to see the variety of responses, as I am sure they will vary according to individual plans/needs.
This year at this time last year is alot slower. Probably due to Chase 5x24 rule among not many hot sign-on bonuses. For whatever reason it is deffinetly more quiet around this time this year.

Excellent way to go about it so you can get the max benefit of each card. I like to time my apps out just like you. But unllike a lot of people here, I like to grow a small amount of tradelines. I think right now I have 4 cards and that is the max for me.

Agreed. Meeting my min spend on Alaska airlines with just usual spending. Double cash needs no min spend. The mailed offers are underwhelming. App for a good one, or two, wait for the fall out from raised rates. ![]()

It may surprise you how many folks in the forum have four or less trade lines. Although I'm not one of them. Everyone has their own method of what works for them. Me ..I'd get bored with four. Lol..do what works best for you.

Could be that holiday spending is healthier this year without additional incentives?
