Hi. I am wanting to apply for the Flagship in the next few weeks and wanted some feedback/advice FIRST.
My datapoints (from TU):
ACCOUNTS
-BK7 (Dc Oct 2014)
-NF Chk Acct opened Aug 2019
-NF Secured/CashRewards (Opened Nov 2019, graduated May 2020; curr limit 3500, curr bal: 3499, never late, WILL BE PAID OFF TOMORROW)
-NF Platinum (Opened May 2020, curr limit 4200, curr bal 4199, never late, WILL BE PAID OFF TOMORROW)
-NF "Pandemic Loan" (Opened 2020; Orig Amt 2500; curr bal 1200; never late, WILL BE PAID OFF TOMORROW)
-Cap1: (Opened Feb 2015; Curr Limit 1350, Cur bal 1349, Late from Nov 2017 - May 2018, WILL BE PAID OFF TOMORROW)
-Cap2 (#2): (Opened Aug 2019; Curr Limit 750, Curr Bal, never late, WILL BE PAID OFF TOMORROW)
-CareCredit: (Opened May 2020; SL 11k; Curr limit 9470; curr bal 7401, never late, cant pay off tomorrow LOL)
-I am also thinking of starting a 3 year "pledge loan" for $2,001 tomorrow that I will pay 90% off and have small payments that show up as on time for the next 3 years (speaks to building relationship with NF and increasing account mixture).
I also have closed accounts from Merrick (never late), Milestone (2 lates from 2018), and an old CapitalOne account (never late). These accounts are charge offs BUT have been PIF. I could provide more details if needed, just ask.
INQUIRIES:
NF: 8/8/2021 (for the FS, did not get my first denial letter from 7/27 after a week bc of a mail issue so I did not know what the reasons were), 7/27/2021 (for the FS), 8/28/2020 (for the FlagShip), 5/10/2020 (Pandemic Loan), 5/5/2020 (Platinum Card), 11/4/2019 (Secured Card)
Syncrony/CareCredit: 5/8/2020
Once I pay off my balances as stated above AND the updates hit my credit reports, would you all suggest applying for the FS again or are the INQ (or anything else) going to bother NF? Once I have the FS, I plan to garden at least for the next few years until my BK falls off (Nov 2024). I also want to ask for a CLI for my CashRewards and Platinum AFTER the FS approval.
What are all of your thoughts? Thank you so much.

I mean no disrespect. but you are seven years post BK and you have a bunch of maxed out cards and you have some missed payments. I realize everybody is getting paid off tomorrow, but why on earth do you need/want a new card? You are not showing a lot of post-bk restraint. In any event, if you really want that card, I would pay off everybody else and wait six months. But why do you want another card? You will likely max it out like all your other cards.

Hi. Last year was rough for me (hence the use of credit), but things are looking much better (they were also better before covid). Since 5 of my accounts will be paid off, I wanted to evaluate this again.
As of this week, I only use my capital one cards for Netflix and Hulu (which I also did before Covid). If it was not for my CapOne account age, I would probably close Cap1 as NF has been better overall.
I would definitely recommend waiting to apply for that card. Even though youre paying off your balances it still will show on your credit report until the issuers report it paid off. You'd most likely be denied in this moment.

Well I am not going to apply for the Flasgship until after my balances reflect my recent large payments on my credit report. Things should be updated my late September.
Life happens, its happening to me at the moment lol. I think once you pay off your Navy cards, you might be suprised at how well Navy treats you. My suggestion to help better your odds is to let a few months/statements pass by with those cleaner reports showing and move your spend over to Navy and pif and establish a small pattern. This will show them a new pattern of responsible use and then go for your 3rd card.

I totaly agree. You are carrying a lot of debt. Tomorrow is not promised to us and what our finances will be. You could have another rough patch. What I woudl work on first after paying the cards down is not another card, but a large savings account to help you weather the storm if you reach a rough patch. The cards that you have now have done well by you by keeping you afloat. Show them back some love by keeping lower balances. Try to stay under 10 percent utilization. If I were you, I would keep one card with me and that would be the lowest available MC or Visa and put the rest away for about a year. I would just put my daily spending on that card and maybe my immediate bills. Then just pay it down each month to about 100 bucks. I would limit my spending and save the rest. No need for any cards right now, you will scare your lenders with that 7 year itch.
