Tonight I clicked on Cap 1's pre-approval link to see what I might be approved for. I wasn't going to go through with it but was just courious to see what they would offer. I received a message that said they didn't have any offers for me. The letter that was sent shortly after said there are too many Cap 1 accounts. What do they consider too many? I just have 3.
I'm only allowed 2.
No idea what the criterion is that limits me.
This is a topic that has been discussed here before so with some careful searching one can get you a more definitive answer, but from hazy memory you're allowed up to 5 cards but the caveat that there is a cap of 2 core cards.
@coldfusion It doesn't seem matter how many of the 5 are core cards. I've got 4 core cards with them, all opened between 2/2022 and 4/2024
QS $2300CL (QS1-> V1>QS )
Savor $1000 CL (former SavorOne before rebranding, moved 3500 CL from it to VX after the other Savor was opened)
VX $15k CL
Savor 20k CL (previous $95 AF version)

I currently have a Savor, VentureOne, Quicksilver, another Quicksilver (converted from Walmart rewards), a Quicksilver One and a Williams Sonoma card with them. I don't think you can get more than 5 major (Visa/MC) cards with them.
I will be closing all three of the QS/QS1 cards shortly in hopes that opens me up for a Venture X card.
@Fee-Fi-Fo-Fico Are you going to move the QS credit limits over to the Savor card before you close the accounts?

Already did. They're down to $500 now.
