Hi everyone, I want to get approved for the AMEX Green but I'm not sure if I will get approved with my current credit score report status:
Experian: 689
Utilization: 18%
Installment Student Loans: $29,000
Deregotory account: Paid Collection account
Accounts: 1 retail, 1 capital 1, 10 Student loans
Have not missed any payments on my account for the past year.
7 Inquiries on Experian.
Note: I gave my Experian credit score and information because I know that AMEX pulls out Experian 90% of the time.
Any help is greatly appreciated! ![]()
How old is the collection account, what type of credit, and what was the dollar amount? You say you haven't missed any payments for the past year. Did you miss payments before that?
Well within the parameters although anything can be a denial.. I think you have a good shot.. Income will play a factor as well. Also Amex pulls experian 99% of the time
edit: as Captool stated how many missed payments a year ago and how bad were they? 30, 60 90, 120 days?
go see if AMEX has any offers for you on their site

It was a verzion phone bill for $76 (year 2008).. I was a freshman in college (an unthinkable brain at the time)
Income: $60,000
I paid the $76 dollars, but my paid status shows: "failed to pay" on each month, for the past 2.5 years.. I didnt think much of it, until I decided to garden.

I think you have a decent shot... Only thing that bothers me is that month after month is shows failed to pay, but you paid it... Is it showing a 0 balance?
Personally I think you have a very good shot at approval.. You have a decent income a fairly thing credit profile along with not to much student loan debt, although you imight want to look at consolidating that evently. Worse that will happen is 1 EXP inquiry.

How long ago was the denial? What were the reasons stated on it? Also Personally all Charge cards (green/PRG/Plat) have the same underwritting criteria, so personally I would go for the 50k PRG offer 0 AF first year and 1k spend in 3 months to get the 50k MR points if you choose to go for it again...
You have a better EXP fico score than myself and I have 26k in credit with them with CA's and CO's and lates when I applied, although alot thicker credit profile.
