Kohls charge prequalify and then deny letter

Got the congrats you're prequalified followed by a "wait 30 days"

Letter came within 10 saying not approved. Usual reasons for me, BK7 (2016), utilization rates too high, etc.

Anyone else have the similar non-success?

  • Sorry for the denial. It has certainly happened to others (pre-approved and then denied). We must remember that pre-approvals and pre-qualifies are never 100% guaranteed. I would try to get the utilization down and try again in a few months.

Sorry for the denial OP.

Personally, I view pre-qualified as a marketing tool and preapproval having a better shot at being approved. However, as @Anonymous says, it’s no guarantee.

I found this article that I thought was interesting that may give you a better insight into the slight differences.
