I noticed something else interesting in my EQ credit report. Looking through the soft inquiries, I see two from PenFed in the last year. One was in March 2020, and the other in August 2019. The description is Promotional Inquiry.
Is this normal? I do not recall ever investigating PenFed or doing anything at all with them until within the last month or so. FWIW, there are also Promotional Inquiry soft pulls from Citi and Dish Network. I have 3 Citi credit cards, but I have never used Dish Network.
I thought even soft pulls were illegal unless permission was given. Guess I was wrong.
PenFed membership was a hard pull for me, btw. That was 2 years ago though.
