@Anonymous wrote:Those 5 cards you added at 16/17 months ago is what's killing you with Chase/AMEX. You are way over 5/24. As stated its new accounts not inquiries. You will be under 5/24 in August 2020 if my math is right. The problem you are going run into is AMEX denied you for too many new accounts and it looks like you added two new accounts since then. You will have to wait until August, add Chase and wait a while to add AMEX, because Chase will soft pull you a few months after approval to make sure you have not added new accounts. So you want to wait probably 3 months after that to add AMEX
But chase also denied me at the same time AMEX did, You suggesting I should app for chase now? Or just wait until August anf apply chase and then wait 3 months for AMEX?( just want to confirm)
Thank you
*Also does aiming for AMEX business I'll run into the same dilema?
No not now. You will not be under 5/24 until August 2020. Wait until then for Chase . Then wait an additional 3 months after that, at least for AMEX. Your new accounts would probalby have aged enough then for Amex too but...Chase is a very skiddish lender. They do not like to see new accounts added in AFTER they approve you. That is why I suggested you wait a bit aftet the Chase approval before you app for AMEX even though you could probably get both in August. Again, just to recap do not do anything until August 2020.
This is all predicated on the opening dates you gave us being correct. You want to wait until thise 5 cards you got 16-17 months ago age past 24 months since opening not since the inquiries. Good luck.

Thanks for encouraging with your personal experience. I prefer getting in Amex more than chase if I have to choose. Because I also want to have business account with them. But then there isn’t any prequalify on the website for me. Does that mean anything before I pull the trigger (now or in the future) and also can I apply personal and business same day to use a single pull?
Individuals often apply even in the absence of pre-approved offers. Outcomes are really YEMV if your profile supports it. As far as HPs, you'd likely incur 2, 1 for personal and the 2nd for biz, could end up with 1, but again no guarantees.
Since your profile doesn't exactly mirror that of the above poster, and even if it did, the results would still vary. I would definitely heed the advice that was shared further upthread. Ultimately, your decision OP.
I definitely wouldn't try for Chase anytime soon if you want you can check the Amex prequal maybe the next month then one after and see if something pops up and shoot then to raise your chances but I noticed Amex does like FICO over 700 but that could be depending on the card too?!
Absolutely, after my first AMEX since november i haven’t been hard pulled by them, picked up the BBP and Platinum this month right after my 3x on cash magnet n everything was SP after november approval.
