Lowes denied increase to $25k

I just called Lowes for a CLI. Current limit is $17K. Asked for $25K and thought I'd at least get into the low $20K range.  I didn't get any luv at all.  That was a surprise!

My 4th statement cut yesterday but the card is a little less than 4 months old. Maybe that had something to do with it.  I'll see what the letter says when it comes in.

Did you call Lowe's or Credit Solutions?  Big difference. Call CS.

I wouldn't even worry about a CLI. Unless you run businesses in home remodeling you have a more than sufficient limit

I called CS.  I really don't need the addition credit but they are known for high limits so I figured I'd see if they would bump it up a little more.

Be careful requesting increases that you don't need/won't use as some lenders do take AA if you are overexposed.

Yeah I just don't get the "I am requesting a CLI but I don't need it" lol. But to each their own. Most of the people on this site that suffer from AA are aggressive credit and CLI seekers.

Re: Lowes denied increase to $25k

I think I should remember those words and try not to get caught up thinking "just a little higher". My main goal was to break $100K. Did that.  Next is $112K. That's so I could carry a $10K balance if I want to (round number) without having a total utilization of more than 9%. And the final goal is $120K because it looks good. (I know, strange reasons).

Either way I'm doing good so maybe I should throttle back on aggressive growth now. My main cards are spread out between 3 lenders so I'd be very unhappy if I saw an AA from one of them.

Just try not to overthink it. Low utilization is nice but it's not a big deal in the long run if you have 11 percent vs 9 percent, etc
