Re: Lowes denied increase to $25k

My Walmart card has moved up to $15K and JCP is now at $10K.  They only see a few hundred dollars of use some months. Lowes is known for being "the card" that easily gets big limits.

Don't take this wrong but you're over exposing yourself on some pointless ass cards. JCP $10k? WM $15k? I wouldn't do that if I were you.

I know what you mean. I'm pretty much coming to the end of increases for those cards. I'd like to see my Barclay cards grow some more (especially the Apple Rewards) along with the Cap 1 cards. I'd like for the account combination feature to work for me so I can combine those four into QuickSilver with a $50K limit then apply for a Venture and be done. Just give them use and let them age after that.

Re: Lowes denied increase to $25k

But even with that what is the use in a $50k QS? Be reasonable with your CLI choices and exposure so you can still qualify for things you may want later

Re: Lowes denied increase to $25k

I might start a business in the next year or two so having at least one card with a high limit will be very benefical.

It's an unnecessary limit on any card for personal use lol

Have you bought a decent kitchen lately?

Hard to finance 10k-15k in cabinets, counter tops and appliances on a 17k card for 18 months/0%.  Or even just run it through the card for the discount.

well, hard when we know the affects of utilization.

Re: Lowes denied increase to $25k

Very difficult to do anything decent without the credit.  And to keep ut low.  I orginally got some higher limit cards for hubby for buying HVAC commercial equipment which can cost upwards of 40k for 1unit.  And then furnishing a 5k sq ft house.  We spent 40k in cash for just brick pavers/landscaping.  Kind of hurts your feelings when spending that much of your savings at a clip.  I feel better charging and paying. Rinse & repeat. I have never put more than 30% on a single card except the promo from RH.  Had 9k limit and charged 8900.  I do like the 12 months same as cash promos with the store cards.  Didn't hurt my fico score as much as I thought it did.  Only saying this if you can pay much more than the minimum on your cards and can pay them off in 12 months.  Smiley Wink

Re: Lowes denied increase to $25k

People saying there isn't a good reason for a $25-35k Lowes card must not own homes. New appliances can run $12k+, a bathroom remodel $10k. $35k might get your kitchen. And it's not a card you can use as your daily driver to build it. If you are remodeling you need $35k, and the only way there is to ask!

Re: Lowes denied increase to $25k

But you only remodel your kitchen once and you should realistically have some cash ready for those projects. Maybe not the full amount but at least $5-$10k. You can't rely solely on credit for it. If you make enough to pay it off within the 0% period you should make enough to save some money.
