Well, FinStar, I listened to your advice of a couple of days ago.... prequal'd with NASA and then equivocated until this morning.
Tonight's e-mail produced this result (only info they requested for validation was a photo of my Driver's License -- but the portal won't let me in -- have to deal with customer service tomorrow: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And here are details for the credit card we will send you, once your information has been validated.* Credit Card Approval Details Card Type: Visa Platinum-Advantage Rewards |
I'm thinking this is not a terrible outcome and probably worth the HP to my EX (which stood at a FICO 8 of 780 prior to the pull).
Did I do well, folks? |
After using their pre-qual website, I equivocated about pulling the trigger on an application.
Received several e-mails reminding me to do so; so I finally rolled the dice and received a message that i was "one step away from approval," just needed to upload my photo driver's license through their portal (link provided).
Trouble is, when I filled-out the few required fields (Last name, e-mail, SSN), the page returned "No applications in last 90 days" and would not allow me to progress further. The e-mail address provided e-lending@nasafcu.com didn't work -- all my emails, with and without attachments bounced back with server errors. The CS phone number vectored me to a pleasant, but not especially helpful, person who told me the credit union was closed for the day.
Has anyone else has similar issues? Does this CU really only need proof of identity to approve a credit card?
All seems a bit mysterious. One would think that an organization with some connection to NASA would at least have a decent grasp of basic web tech, for Pete's sake....lol.
No, it's not a done deal once you provide them with the requested documents. They would still require membership (if eligible). Some recent reported experiences below (also available using the search feature):

Sometimes the pre-qual works as well... It did for me and we have similar EX scores. NASAFCU set up my membership with the approval. I just had to email some docs back and forth.

The email I used with them was e-visa@nasafcu.com
