do any of your accounts have direct deposit going into them? you can check now, there's a direct deposit indicator on the desktop website.
that would help
the max your $500 card can go is $1500, so just request a $8k CLI now and you'll be approved to go to $1500.
unless you wanted to wait for direct deposit to be triggered in one of your accounts, just apply, they either like you, or they don't like you and if they don't like you now, you can just wait a year or give up because I'm not sure what else you could do honestly, being 1/6 is not going to sway them regardless.
if a $1000 CLI prevents you from getting a second card, consider it a mercy and maybe move on from NFCU - lol
@GZG Not to hijack the thread but the thought of opening a card with them has crossed my mind as a hedge against having too much of my credit tied up with Capital One if the Discover deal goes through. While I have no immediate plans to apply for a card with NFCU, reading your response to the OP has me wondering if I shouldn't even bother, since after joining I haven't switched my direct deposit to them and have no plans to.

I mean
OP will reach max limits with CLIs, it will just take time, they just don't get to start out at $25k for whatever reason
I doubt they actually need direct deposit to be approved, it just might impact if their next limit is as high as it can be, DD is just a big help and it doesn't even need to be the full DD, even a small portion will tick that "has direct deposit" box.
a bunch of people with great credit and no dd just walk up and get handed their $25k no questions asked, it's just not everybody for some reason
@Zoostation1 I would try to get a portion of your DD moved into navy if you do plan to get a CC with them, they're probably the highest limit a BK'er can get honestly, even if you have to CLI it every 6 months
@GZGMaking any direct deposit changes is going to mean at least 2 paper checks with my employer, which is one of a few reasons why I'm reluctant to leave my current smallish regional bank. I don't really need another card right now so maybe I'll wait it out to see if sale of Discover just gets approved before I decide on applying.
