Sorry to see that you also got a $7100 SL even with some history with NFCU including a mortgage. Since my last datapoint, I started a recurring direct deposti via ACH transfer and also opened a small CD. I'm about halfway through my spend for the cRP card's SUB now, so I'm just continuing on with this plan until I'm eligible to request a CLI.Good luck on your future CLI
. I moved my direct deposit over, so we will see what happens for me in about three months. Please keep us updated on what happens for you.
Will do @PlaidRaptor. I wonder if the $7100 SL is some type of indicator. It seems like such an odd amount to be a coincidence.

I agree that it is an oddly specific amount. I have seen other data points of people getting the same starting limit, albeit with very different profiles. Maybe NFCU's computers like the number 7,100
excellent! answers my most recent thread, sorry!

Circling back with an update @PlaidRaptor :
I waited until the day after my 3rd full statement cut and requested a CLI through my login on the NFCU website. The request went to pending review. The next day, I logged in and saw that my limit had been increased by $8k.
What is the most recent data on CLI and hard inquiries? Does NFCU do soft or hard for a CLI nowadays?
If it is hard, but my credit reports are frozen, what would happen?
Thank you!

reports can be frozen, just do it online or in the app, don't call and it will be a soft pull. They just use your monthly account review soft pull.

Thanks! I already have credit reports frozen and have 850 FICO8s and $74,000 with them currently. Hoping to hit the $80K max with this CLI request. It's surprising they haven't increased this $80K limit with all of the inflation over the past 5 years.
If you call in for CLI - this will result in a HP. As you read through these threads everyone avoids the phone call at all costs. Instead,CLI's are done via the NFCU app from your mobile device.
if your reports are frozen.......not sure I've ever done that with Navy. But i'm sure someone from this megathread may have experience.

This is consistent with my experience from a few months ago. I requested a CLI through my online login with all of my bureaus frozen. It wasn't an instant approval, but the increase came through the following day.
