I already have the cash rewards card from NFCU with a CL of $5k. I went ahead and checked the pre qualify site to see if I will be approved for another card, and I qualified for all cards. I apply for the More Rewarss cars and was declined due to not meeting lending criteria. any suggestions? I got an inquiry on TU.
@IssacFair, Sorry for your NFCU denial
Navy's pre-qual tool is not very accurate. Calling in over the phone for a pre-qual seem's to be pretty solid.
You might call them up to get an explanation of what they mean by not meeting lending criteria?
You possibly might be able to recon the decision, cannot hurt to try?
This is provided your cash rewards is more than 91 days and 3 statements old.

Yes, dont trust their prequalify. It is not reliable and ill stand by that. Adding your current credit profule might help with better suggestions

Sorry Smartie, i dont really agree that calling in is any different than inputting your info in the online prequal page. A Csr can say your prequalified and you can still be denied. I know ive read of such a case.
Imho, its better for one to go off rheir current profile, know their recent credit purchases, spend, seeking, current trends, etc than to go off something that has not been established to be reliable. Navy cli sp by submitting online, especially with l9cked files, thats an example of a more established trend though not a 100% thing to be sure

Ok to disagree
Just going off DP's that I have read.
And when you have 3 Navy cards already, and online pre-quals you for everything?
One does wonder how accurate that is
I just scratch my head

I've noticed that most banks and cu are offering pre-qualifies versus pre-approvals. I believe that why you got the decline

Also disagree. I got prequalified for all cards as well whether I called CSR or tried the tool online. It's bogus, IMO.
OP, sorry for the denial. I guess Navy doesn't want to extend you any more credit at this time.
