Score simulators are just that, simulators. Might not pan out that quick like the lender is saying
Barclays will report in 2-3 days, if you qualify.
i agree with credit guy my Synch cards report very quickly two of which reported before I even had the card physically in my hand ex: BP Rewards Visa and Stash Rewards Visa, As for Credit One, I opened my card in the beginning and while it was rather quick to report I cant wait to get rid of it with an annual fee of $99 for a $600 CL isnt worth it to me but thats just me Good Luck with your journey

+1 Exactly. No matter how fast a credit card reports if he has no score there are no short cuts. It will take 6 months to generate fico and even after score generation because of lack of tradelines it will be hard to get financing on a house in short period of time. I know you said he has 20% down but those would be predators that loan him the money. This should be a 2 year project if he really wants best rates for home and to get a high score. And getting a card or 2 now would begin the process. also throw in a secured personal loan for best results on the score ewhen generated.

The lender ran a simulator and it showed it would be immediate for him. He has had credit in the past, just nothing on there to generate right now.
There is nothing that would be immediate in the credit world. regardless of what simulator says. History is King. You can take the advice or not. but we are telling you the way it is. Not from simulators but real life experience. 6 months is not long. 1 loan. and 1 credit card should get him over the top with high scores. provided never late. Just having a card does nothing.
Capital one

Fastest reporting cards are Synchrony and Barclays. Less than a week.
yep mine were on there within the week.
Honestly I'd have him check prequal pages. MAYBE Barclay'll throw him a bone but with no score that's tough. He may be able to get in with Cap One or maybe even Chase (sometimes they'll toss a Freedom out to people with zero history) but that may not be quite as fast as he's hoping (Cap One in my experience is a little on the slow side).

I am sorry. The lender was mistaken.

Well, since he has a credit history, just no FICO score, it is possible that one of the accounts on his credit history was open for at least 6 months. Its all in how you read that first requirement, it doesn't necessarily have to be a currently open account, just one that has been open for at least 6 months.
If that is the case, then opening any credit card woudl satisfy the second requirement, making a FICO score possible.
Perhaps.
