Paypal MasterCard

How solid is this offer when exiting paypal... Already have 3 cards with SYNC and recently got approved for SP CLI's... however

I think SYNC has a cap on me for anymore CLI's is it worth the risk to try for this card?

Re: Paypal MasterCard

Well, you already have the double cash, Quicksilver, and freedom unlimited. The only reason to get the PayPal card is if you intend to get the PayPal business debit card as well, link them, and effectively get 3% back on credit purchases and 2% on debit purchases.

I am getting a PayPal Cash Card soon, which is their personal debit card. I won't know for sure until I get the card and try, but the wording in the PayPal faq seems to suggest that you can use any card you want as the backup funding source, while the business debit card requires the PayPal cashback card. While the Cash card doesn't earn the extra 1% that the business debit gets (only on credit transactions), to me the benefit is getting your rewards on debit transactions. You could put your double cash or freedom unlimited as the backup funding for the Cash Card and get 2% or 1.5 UR on every purchase even debit.

If you're set on 3% for all credit transactions, get the PayPal cash back CC and the PayPal business debit. Otherwise, there's no point to this card. If you want to get rewards on debit purchases you should just get the PayPal Cash Card, see if it will let you use your Double Cash or Freedom Unlimited for backup funding, and be done with it.

This reply is referring to the PayPal Cash Mastercard personal debit card NOT the PayPal business debit card. Per the the card holder agreement backup funding is via bank or debit card on file with PayPal.

4.3 Automatic Top Up; Authorization.
     4.3.1
Transactions made with the Card are funded solely by your PayPal balance. To ensure that your balance is sufficient to cover transactions you make with the Card, PayPal can automatically add funds to (“top up” or “reload”) your PayPal balance by transferring funds from your linked bank account or debit card (your “Top Up Source”) whenever your available balance is less than the transaction amount. PayPal cannot top up your balance using a linked credit card. You can toggle the top up feature ‘on’ or ‘off’ in your PayPal account settings.

4.3.2   PayPal establishes a set, default amount for each top up (e.g., $20). PayPal may offer you the ability to select from one or more default amounts (e.g., $20, $50, $100, $200) or they may allow you to set a custom default amount. The default amount will be transferred from your Top Up Source to your PayPal balance each time a top up is required to complete a Card transaction. To the extent multiple top ups are required to complete a transaction, PayPal will top up your PayPal balance with a multiple of the top up amount.

4.3.3  By using the Card, you hereby authorize PayPal to automatically debit your linked bank account or debit card, as applicable, for the default top up amount (or multiples thereof) as necessary to complete any transaction conducted using the Card. You further agree that once a top up transfer from your bank account or debit card has been initiated, you will not be able to cancel the transfer and that PayPal may resubmit any top up transfer that is returned for insufficient or uncollected funds, except as otherwise provided by the ACH rules or applicable law. You may be subject to third party fees, such as insufficient fund fees, reversal fees, or ACH insufficient fund fees that a bank may charge if your top up transfer is rejected.

Re: Paypal MasterCard

You are welcome.

If I were you I would apply for the PayPal 2% Cashback Mastercard. Call PayPal to get the PayPal business debit card and link it to the PayPal 2% Cashback Mastercard for back up funding. Then use the business debit card  to make non-pin purchases to get up to 3% cash back. You must select credit (not debit) when making purchases with the business debit card . I do not have this card combo but I plan to get it in the fall.

See below post that a myFico'er posted that explains how it all works.

Re: Paypal MasterCard

Lol, leave it to a myFicoer to figure a way to get an extra percent in reward Smiley Wink Way to complex for me i just want a card i can use and let the rewards take care of themselves. Mho of course. I get this invite all the time but honestly with my Dc, CR, BCE, i dont spend enough to complicate my card life . But maybe you do. Only go for a card if it will help your lifestyle and spend, getting it just because you can often leads to regrets imo Smiley Wink

Re: Paypal MasterCard

I have this card and I actually prefer it over the Citi DC. One main reason is that, for me, the PayPal grew a heck of a lot faster than the DC. I've had the DC for just over a year and the PayPal for approximatly 8-10 months. Both cards had the same $700 SL. In the months since the PayPal reached the 5K mark a couple months ago while the DC is sitting at $1200 despite my scores raising considerably. Just my personal experience mind you.

Re: Paypal MasterCard

Also If i recall theres no minimum redemption and the redemption is automatic to your PP account.... Might be wrong here..

Re: Paypal MasterCard

I think that is accurate. You can set up the account to redeem automatically or you can do it manually. No minimum redemption though.
