I just got a mailer offer for the PenFed Gold card. Is it worth it worth applying/accepting? It sounds like they're a legend around here.
It says it's "pre-approved"? I tried to accept it but said their systems are down. It has a solid APR too and it's no interest . It comes with a $100 sub but I like the fact it's no interest and then very low interest later.
If you're interested in the card, and it would be of benefit to you, you can definitely apply. Are you currently a PenFed member?
Just keep in mind that the pre-approved mailers are not 100% guaranteed. Some folks have been approved, others have been declined based on reported DPs -- it's all profile driven.
@FinStar I'm not a PenFed member but the terms look very favorable; Credit unions in general seem to be pretty great. I just assumed that the quality of my credit profile was nowhere near close to what they wanted. It feels nice to know that there's even an offer from them.
It asks me to accept the offer, then it breaks their system. I can download the Card Member Agreement and terms from the page too. I just noticed all this... Can't accept the offer though... grrr...
Ok, if you're experiencing some system issues with accepting the offer, try a different browser or device (be sure pop-up blocker is disabled for this application only) -- perhaps that may remedy the issue.
Maybe this offer was never meant to be; The date says balance transfers through 09/2020. I've tried on various devices/browsers.
It just makes me feel nice that I'm wanted by a lender that isn't considered "subprime" or "predatory". I don't get credit one mailers anymore lol 😆.
Is this a common issue with PenFed?

Is the above date a typo or does the mailer have 2020 as the end date of the promo? If so, it almost sounds like an expired offer unless it's a misprint.
Mailer has a 2021 date... I think they may be experiencing some "technical difficulties". I did double check and the mailer does say 9/30/2021. I wonder if it was simply a typo. Offer just came in a day or so ago so it can't be expired.
Eitherway, system is definitely still broken but it does say I have until 7/31/2021 to accept the offer. I just don't want the other new account(Citizens Bank) to hit my report before I app for this. I guess I'll just have to wait until they fix whatever is wrong with there system. I hope they give me a CL of $10k+(seems unlikely but one can hope) .

@Anonymous, I would try again, if the "technical difficulties" still persist .. give PenFed a call, a CSR might be able to help.
Good Luck and please keep us posted on your progress.

Just an update. I did get approved and was granted an $8.75k limit @ 15.49. It was a SP, no HP, instant approval.
It appears they took my lowest CL($750) and added my highest CL($8k) to get this one($8.75k). I could have sworn I read that somewhere on this board... That PenFed used your highest and lowest CL to determine your CL for new applications.
Thanks for the update.
