Question about upgrading from new Amex Gold to Amex Platinum

I just got an Amex Gold Card in January and I think I could use some of the benefits (and, thus, justify the fee) of upgrading the card to the Platinum.  Has anybody done this so soon, and (a) is it doable, or (b) am I better off waiting.  FICO's are 800, 808, and 813.  Utilization about 1%.

If it is a new card and if you received a SUB, they won’t let you upgrade until the card is at least 1 yr old.

CARD Act prevents Amex from upgrading personal card even if you want it upgraded.
With your scores you should be able to apply for a new Platinum if you cannot wait the year.
Consider pacing your applications if you are trying to hit spending to get sign up bonus.
