If it makes you feel any better, I have an Amazon Prime Store Card (with a $10K limit) that I will be closing within the next 3 years. I feel the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature card from Chase to be far superior to it for obvious reasons. So, if you end up not getting this card, you might want to sneak a peek at the Chase one.
I like it for the travel benefits (Travel Accident Insurance, Lost Luggage Reimbursement, Baggage Delay Insurance, Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver, etc) since I seldom travel, but when I do, at least I have something to cover me for those rare cases.

How does having a 10k card that you have that YOU will be closing IN 3 YEARS, make Op feel better? It doesnt even compare to the current situation let alone it will be by your choice not the banks.
OP , sorry for the closure . With all the changing algorithms going on with Sync and other banks especially with risk, it might seem those other ugliness still on your teport may have caught up to you. Just keep your head up, you will get past this and on your next cc approval, you'll see this more as a speedbump than anything else.

I'll break it down for you as to why it could make the OP feel better, including my younger self and others if I would've known before that I should've gotten the Chase version of Amazon's 5% discount instead of their Store Card version.
So, if I would've known at the time that Synchrony's Amazon Store card was not that great as an end game card compared to Chase's version, I never would've gotten it in the first place which is why I am closing it in the near future (most likely this year, but could be more which is why I wrote "within the next 3 years"). If I knew this and I would've gotten rejected for the store card, I would've felt better because it's not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things.
Knowledge of knowing can help cope with the situation and I find that many people on these forums hate Synchrony anyways, so it's no big loss. Personally, I only like 1 of their cards and they haven't done anything crazy to me yet.

What makes the store version (Synchrony) "not that great" when compared to the Chase (Visa) version with the exception that one can be used outside of Amazon and the other can't? They both have special finance options. They both have the 3% or 5% depending if you're a Prime member or not. The bonus categories on the Chase version offers 2% back on gas, grocery, and drug stores? If one has the Amazon store version they could easily buy a Visa gift card and earn cash back on that purchase as well. Not to mention that 2% back on gas, grocery, and drug stores is FAR from impressive.

People who hate Synchrony most likely do so because of sudden account closures or clds and i agree its not very nice of them to mass close especially if one did not have lates or bounced payments. Clds could have sufficed but alas they did and often do drastic measures. However, many of those same people weren't complaining on the big limit increases that were given more freely than almost any bank would . I not only have alot of Sync exposure but ive been following their trends for well over 5 plus years and i knew and know that with Sync its best to use and pif , carrying balances carries more risk. Those of us who went for Sync cards should understand that risk . Many in general public probably did not but those on myFico for sure were/are aware.
I had the Chase Amazon card and in no way was that 5% back any more superior to my Amazon store card 5% lol. 5% is 5% . The store card is an excellent option for anyone who is not in compliance with Chases's 5/24 rule. No af, financing options and 5% is not too shabby . Sp cli to boot. I think there may be two stigmas here because a) its a Synchrony card and b) its a " Store" card. Please dont get me wrong your opinion is valid as its yours but at least youve got to determine your cards worth in having it awhile whereas Op did not.

It's not that great to me and like-minded individuals with the "end game" in mind and also a love for minimalism and simplicity.
Why do I prefer the Chase Visa Signature version?
I love the idea of managing the least amount of accounts possible and only having exactly what I use and enjoy. I think the time (or waste of) it takes to properly manage too many accounts brings more stress than it does anything else.

I understand your point and I respect that. I guess for me, if I had a fictitious "re-do" in life, I already know exactly which 7 "end-game" cards I'd want to apply for and do everything I could just to aim for those rather than waste time on the others. Everyone's list would be different of course, this is just my own based on my experience. But yeah, if someone couldn't get the Chase Amazon card for whatever reason, that's totally fine. You gotta do what you gotta do.
